most expensive repair I've had on 2 lexuses and a bunch of yotas so I can't complain too much. $1206 with tax. I just took it in because I don't touch ac stuff.

pretty sure that’s the same one as on an SC300

i lucked into finding a used NA supra one for $60 back in the day somehow or else new it’s at least $600 just for the compressor

yeah most everything accesory wise is the same on 2JZs I think. compressor was almost $700 for a Denso

oh well, I only have 108k on the gs and hope to put 300k+ on it. still runs and drives like new. I love the dumb thing. can't imagine who would have paid the new price for one in 2002 (heavy, slow, weird looking...why the 6 over the v8 in the gs400? why not a cheaper es300 or a more plush LS400/430? just a weird car choice for the money to me) but used they are a deal.

Anyone know a good Subaru mechanic in Brooklyn area? Buying a 2018 Impreza sport wagon off an app so will have to have someone give it the old once over. I probably am trading something for the app convenience but the thought of schlepping to dealerships in ubers or on my bike right now is a cost much more tangible to my anxiety ridden self

4wd tercels rule. I strongly shopped for one as my second/work car, but since that it a car I almost exclusively use for highway trips I concluded that didn't make much sense. they are so cool tho.

They already confirmed they don't plan on bringing it to the US :(

The 4 series and M3 grilles are atrocious, it's so weird they didn't carry over the styling of the regular G20 3 series. Electric steering feel and anti-roll bars are a huge improvement over the F30 generation though.

I haven't owned a car in about 15 years. Thinking I'm gonna buy one soon. Is it a bad idea to buy one from Hertz? Kia Souls aren't cool, right?

That's a great question. I don't really have a great answer. It seems like the Outback has a more comfortable, sedan-like ride. I dunno. Should I get a Forester?

I honestly have no idea lol was just wondering if you had looked at both.

My '08 Accord just hit 160k and it's seeming like the end is near so I just started seriously looking this week and am definitely going in the compact/mid-size SUV route so the Forester is on my radar.

Hyundai Santa Fe seems like the smartest choice for me as far as value/size/quality/implied longevity is concerned but I wasn't in love with the one I test drove.

This is a hell of a time to be asking the "how much car can I afford" question because income consistency is not really a thing for me right now.

Yeah, that Hyundai warranty seems really frickin' good. Should I get a Hyundai?

yeah they’re totally decent

my mom has a 2013 elantra and the drivetrain is still under warranty and she’s had no issues after 80k miles other than a wheel bearing

COVID-19 has made me crazy and I want to get out of my studio apartment and into nature. YouTube has inspired me to go camping and the Outback seems like the ideal camping car aside from like an RV. Thought about even getting a rooftop tent. I haven't owned a car in like 15 years. Anyway, I'm also really attracted to the fuel efficiency of a hybrid. That's where my head is at.

It's wild how the 100% electric cars have such poor resale value. You can get a used BMW i3 or Nissan Leaf for very cheap.

check on the battery replacement costs on the leaf or the warranty

i’d be into an electric if the replacement cost wasn’t prohibitive

I live in an apartment in NYC and have no idea how I would plug it in. I also want to drive to Grand Canyon and Florida so it seems like those are out of the question. The market needs an inexpensive hybrid wagon.
