nice nice i'll try it half and half next time and yeah chiffonade is what i do to the basil. i make marinara from scratch a decent amount of time, it's easy and it's a good way to use up tomatoes if they start wrinkling up
well that was intense

Yeah I do it any time I have good leftover tomatoes too. Off season when I want it I just get a can of San Marzanos. It's so easy and always delicious.

Lunch today was Chicken Katsu with Japanese Curry rice

We made a big pot of Japanese curry last night, so I just warmed it over the stove directly in with the rice and then made the Katsu.

Made amazing wings last night. Did Kenji's double fry/confit method and then made a soy/garlic wing sauce with garlic, ginger, green onion, soy, chicken stock, sesame oil, dried peppers and corn starch. Garnished with more green onion.

So we were drunk as hell yesterday and didn't have much food in the house and I whipped up this from ingredients we had. I used my Detroit pizza dough recipe and then topped with some pesto I'd frozen and the little bit of leftover mozzarella I had in the fridge. I wish there was more cheese to get those burnt cheese edges around the whole thing, but it was still super delicious.

I made avacado on sourdough toast but mostly posting this pic for the eggs which were the best I've ever done. Look how fluffy they look!

Made a big ass batch of Texas Red Chili today. 6 different types of chiles in it and 4lbs of chuck. It was honestly the best chili I've ever eaten.

Do you guys think this would be good, because I'm out of food and without a car for the day and have random ass ingredients:

Cook lentils in chicken broth. Sautee garlic/ginger/ground pork (+sesame oil and soy and maybe fish sauce) and then add Thai red curry paste. Add both together and then add kaffir lime leaves and cook down for a while, then and cream (no coconut milk).

I love vegan lentil soups, but for whatever reason i don't love lentils with meat or umami type flavors. but that might just be personal preference

that said, I bet it'd be very nice without the pork and soy/fish sauce, albeit very different than the original idea

In my head it would be like some sort of larb/lentil curry hybrid.

I have a bunch of dumpling wrappers too. A red curry pork dumpling (as long as it's not too wet) would be really good, I'm sure, but the gf is the dumpling wrapper in the family and she has my car.

Made homemade pork and Chinese chive dumplings with ginger scallion relish and some Laoganma chili soy sauce.

And then some quick sesame peanut noodles to go with it.

Those colors do look pretty.

Spent a while today making a bunch of stuff.

Beef shawarma with homemade yufka wraps + homemade tzatziki, pickles, red onion and aromatic basmati butter rice:

Image

Plus homemade hummus and not at all homemade pita:

Image

The yufka turned out amazing and was super easy, but made the house smoky as all hell. Had to open windows in cold ass weather for a while.
