I'm certainly going to think this from now on, anyway.

the title of the television drama "Highway to Heaven" (1984-1989) is a play on the AC/DC song "Highway to Hell"

Gist, as in “did you catch the gist of it?” is an anglicization of “geist” like in “zeitgeist.”
Combarieu declares that the songs of birds are not "musical" either, because they are "very difficult to take down in notation." See his Music-Its Laws and Evolution, 155. Will some divine power please create a "Musical" bird to sing the Air for G String in exact Equal Temperament for M. Combarieu?

false don :(

Gist was borrowed from the Anglo-French legal phrase "[cest] action gist" ("[this] action lies") in the early 18th century, and was originally used in legal contexts as a term referring to the foundation or grounds for a legal action without which that action would not be legally sustainable.

iirc it was called "the dao of star trek" and it was an honors college class where we would watch a particular ep and then discuss and write about the philosophical and sociological underpinnings of that ep. it was a great idea for a class and i enjoyed it but ultimately it was somewhat limited by the teacher being pretty dumb and stunting the discussions as a result

yea there was a "cool" class on the wire at my university that everyone wanted to take but a friend who ended up taking it said the prof and the class was kind of a dud.

otoh hand there was a wacky new film professor who taught convinced the film dept. to teach auteur theory classes on spielberg and miyazaki. I took both and they were incredible.

one really rolls the dice with "cool" classes in the course catalog I guess.

Thomas Mifflin was the first governor of Pennsylvania, and a signer of the constitution.

Not sure where they got Dunder from.

It's called a "guy wire" and not a "guide wire" (even though "guy" in this context is functionally a synonym for "guide"):
