shacky wrote:well, first she receives Mysterious Letter from the dead dude's brother even though nobody knows where she lives. she's suspicious for about 1.5 seconds and it's never mentioned again.
second, if i was convinced someone had broken into and was still inside my house and then i heard and saw the front door open with the chain still swinging, i might mention that to somebody instead of going back to bed. and also if there then was clearly a ghost/invisible man in my bedroom, i might wake up the other person in the bed with me so that they could see what was up
then the ridiculous email confrontation with her sister, then the incident where she strikes the kid while standing halfway across the room. all her loved ones magically become assholes slamming doors in her face after 15 seconds without even listening. and it doesn't help that she only ever tries to explain things by screaming hysterically. i get she has ptsd but she's alternately lucid and capable/completely unhinged and irrational depending on what the script needs her to be
maybe nitpicky for a horror movie but the pulpiness really undermined the potential heft of the subtext and was totally at odds with the clinical visual tone
if nothing else though id watch the shit out of The Invisible Woman w elisabeth moss doing an old school explotation revenge flick taking out a bunch of creepsToggle Spoiler
