I hadn’t watched the hills have eyes since I was a teen, but watched it last night. Cameron Stallones from Sun Araw looks like Doug.

Combarieu declares that the songs of birds are not "musical" either, because they are "very difficult to take down in notation." See his Music-Its Laws and Evolution, 155. Will some divine power please create a "Musical" bird to sing the Air for G String in exact Equal Temperament for M. Combarieu?

I watched The Caller (1987) on youtube bc I saw that Vinegar Syndrome is putting it out this month.

Image

Madolyn Smith lives alone in the woods and one stormy night Malcolm McDowell shows up at her door asking to use the phone. then things get weird. this one constantly rode the line between very dumb and very cool and I think in the end I'll call it very cool. the last 8 or so minutes go completely off the rails. curious if anyone else has seen this/what they think of it.

I'd be down for starting a Halloween horror movies folder, seems close enough to the season now that it's August.

Edit: Just started one, moved The Rental there, didn’t know if I should move the other horror movies so I’ll let somebody else decide.

Also adding:
Let’s Scare Jessica To Death
Night of the Demons III
Near Dark
Slaughter High
Tammy & The T-Rex

It doesn't like transcend its gimmick but for a horror movie made on Zoom made and released in like 3-4 months its pretty good and effectively scary.

just watched blood quantum, a zombie movie from a native american pov. I really liked it, quality low budget horror from a different perspective. interesting characters, novel twist, and a slam bang emotional ending

just an FYI for my horror friends, this guy Brian Donnelly has a stack of VHS rips of horror movies of varying trash-factor and budget that remind me of browsing the horror section as a kid

the only downside is he seems to record audio via mono and it only shows up on one channel, so don't be surprised if only one earphone works for you
great lazy viewing for bedtime

the upside is he includes the trailers at the start of the video!

Did not expect this to be so batshit and fun.

Let out an audible laugh near the end when the dude gets stabbed and the knife flies up in the air for no reason.

this was pretty disappointing. beyond the zoom gimmick it's just a tired rehash of every other horror movie with things creeping up behind people, spooky noises, people getting dragged/pulled around the room, etc.Toggle Spoiler

I'm sorry shacky but if relic is vader and you are luke, I am of the view that vader will not be saying 'you were right about me, you were right' to you in this case

Added a bunch of movies to the place and also renamed the folder because reminding myself people like pumpkin beers was annoying me.

I watched Just Before Dawn and The Death Wheelers and loved them both. Just Before Dawn is such a fun slasher, wish I’d seen it before now.
