I wish the GBA was as successful as the DS was so you'd have a bunch of weird shit. I love the GBA but you can get all the games worth owning (if you're willing to spend, like you said) pretty quickly

I wonder what solutions young people just getting into games now are going to have for retro games (current games and going forward) because even when games do come out physically there are patches you have to download immediately on brand new games and new stuff comes ount all the time.

I got my boxed copy of Tobu Tobu Girl Deluxe for GBC today from the kickstarter and man this is maybe the best kickstarter I've backed. The box casse instruction and game are fucking beautiful, the actual game is fun and it came with two really beautiful coins too. My dork ass is happy

Saw Kim Justice at the London Gaming Market :)

It's weird the niche I've put myself in because it was almost legit like seeing a famous person and then I get online and she's got 50k followers (not shading her)

My grandma had an Intellivision when I was a kid but the NES was my first real console and I do feel like the games are the first gen that hold up without nostalgia (at least the best of them) and I feel like Atari is strictly nostalgia glasses but wonder how much I'm in denial.

I wish I could find the Limmy show sketch where he finds the old atari and tries playing it. I think it might be this one but it's geoblocked

Does Secret of Mana 2 (Trials of Mana) live up to the first one? I'm thinking of getting Collection of Mana for the Switch just for that game... Secret of Mana is an all-time fave but the $53 CAD price tag makes me hesitant.

it's very good but i'd wait to see if ninty puts it on sale for black friday. worst case a physical copy is going to be $26 CAD ($20 USD) at US retailers so you'could probably still save even with shipping. (also would be remiss if i didn't say that seiken densetsu 1, aka final fantasy adventure, is a really good game and worth playing if you pick up the collection)

or just wait -- a full Trials of Mana remake is going to come out in 2020 and it looks competently done, unlike the SoM remake, which is an abortion

Yeah I already created an alert to remind me to check for Black Friday sales, lol.
I love the art style of Secret of Mana too much to opt for a 3D remake. I'm gonna buy this damn game. Thanks struttin' mush.

I’m hanging with my 6 year old nephew today and as hard as it is to get him to watch anything besides youtube, i downloaded a few emulatorS and we’ve been having a good time playing the capcom marvel super heroes arcade fighting game. I’m getting kinda tired of the limited characters.

Anyone have some retro gaming recommendations for uncle time?

mario 3 or smw are great, but they're not co-op or whatever.

can anyone recommend a good wireless ps2 controller? i assume the wavebird is still the one to get for gc?

i never got around to fixing that widescreen thing for the wii vc games, but i'm also likely moving and getting a new projector in a couple months so it'll be a whole new setup so i'll probably wait til then to troubleshoot

i noticed the other day that the NES games (or at least smb3) are super dark-looking on the wii vc. i can just run roms on an emulator but i liked having the vc versions just case it's a lot more convenient to just get there off the main menu

okay so i'm a big ol idiot, and using EMULATORS for nes/snes games look fine color-wise AND have some sort of widescreen correction so they're in the right aspect ratio.

it's nice having the virtual console versions but definitely not worth it over the functionalty of the emulators

If you only need it to work for emulators and not an actual ps2, then the ps3 controller fits that description.
