Damn bmovers congrats! That painting is so good, damn. The colors and smoothness of application and line quality. I love it. Is it just on canvas?

I’m currently working on finishing a painting I started back in 2012 and promptly packed away, taped to a board and forgot about for 8 years. Goal is to finish it before 2020 is up :?

thanks! yep, just a standard, stretched canvas. i think the act of staring down a blank canvas and filling it up was a daunting one after so much time off. now that i've completed one, i'm itching to keep going.

i also have a canvas that i started like 6 years ago right after my daughter was born and then abandoned. i think i may attempt to resurrect/finish that one up next. you should, too!

I hoped to make something bigger and maybe even on a canvas during covid but still mostly using ink in a book

This kind of stuff is so cool. Are you thinking of a particular place or using photo references or just making it up as you go? If I tried making up a scene like this it would end up looking like a disorganized mc Escher instead of something possibly real

a lot of it is based on Hamilton Ontario's smokestacks which I've always been obsessed with since I was a kid. so yeah using photo references but also making it up

I haven't really done anything lately except some bullshit procreate sketches. I need to buy some new sketchbooks.

2nd_yellow i feel like you're the most prolific artist boarder i know. love everything you do. i need to start using procreate now that i have an apple pencil, just haven't found the time. i used to be far better at maintaining a drawing practice than a painting one, anyway.

made this wonky progress GIF of the painting:

I appreciate it, dude. Along the lines of apps I would recommend giving infinite painter a whirl. It's a paid app, but there's some design aspects to it that procreate just doesn't offer. I find myself switching between that and procreate a lot.
