If it's confirmed that this is a specifically anti-Asian hate crime, it's probably going to have a huge impact on public discourse & opinion w.r.t. crime and policing so I'd want them to get it 100% right rather than saying something quickly
even if the motives weren't blatantly obvious don't really know that i would care if we knew them or not. hard to imagine a scenario where something comes to light and all of a sudden i'm on this guy's side

I'm not (at all) saying anyone should be on his side or should ever be on his side, or that people on internet forums shouldn't be discussing racialized angles of this crime, just that it's understandable that someone in Biden's position should exercise caution about what he says publicly about it right away.

Yeah, the White House team could have literally copied either of these two statements instead of giving right wingers more ammo to argue that it's only the media that makes things about race.

fwiw i didn't think you were saying that, to me the question of knowing the motives or not feels neither here nor there for a statement

yeah this wasn't so hard and wouldn't have sounded exactly like every (rightfully) criticized statement that trump made after high profile hate crimes
I mean, it's not the best statement but let's be clear on what right wing statements "about it" are like:
I know it's not praiseworthy to clear the bar of being better than this, but I mean, even after encouraging sinophobia in the middle of ostensibly pro-AAPI language... it doesn't even mention the crime

I'm just sad my 70-year-old mom has to feel this now. It sucks her security blanket got taken away.
a guy is livestreaming outside the market and will probably get arrested, he's being extremely aggro every time a SWAT person comes and asks him to move away from where he is
other good line was "YOU GONNA TELL THIS WHOLE CROWD OF PEOPLE TO STAND BACK TOO" in reference to people likely waiting to find out the fates of their friends/relatives

reminds me of the guy who filmed the Station Nightclub Fire and at one point walked around to the back of the building and yelled into one of its burning alleys, "Is anybody hurt?" before walking back
oh our wacky streamer pal was also the guy who took the video looking into the store; please be advised that it is graphic and bodies can be seen, along with gunshots heard at the end. I initially tried to spoiler this but the spoiler functionality doesn't work for tweets, will clear this post if boarders want me to
