OKAY. so yesterday i made it out to the HIIT class. this was the first time i went with the official instructor lady and using all the proper equipment and gameplan and stuff. so this was a bit more intense than the modified one they were doing the last few times. incorporates a few weights and those resistance band dealies. it's a straight up 30 minute don't stop situation whereas the other one were 3 10 min intervals with 1 min rests in between this one the "rests" were just like low impact stuff but keeping moving the whole time. and i got there like 30 minutes before the class so did a quick cardio warmup and had a chance to hit the leg extension machine and the ab crunch machine before class.

today was back to regular schedule with PT. same cardio warmup, i'm still a heavy breather the whole time now but like when she shows up at minute 5 or whatever it's like i can keep going until she tells me to stop. like when i started by minute 3 i was ready to die and just pushing my legs forward, now i'm still feeling comfortable after 5-6min (although breathing heavy and sweating.. but i could keep going!) so that's nice. she also mentioned my posture is really improved, which i have also been noticing myself. so i am really seeing small improvements. it's nice. i'm also really happy now that like my arm has a bump on it. like at no point in my life did i ever have any kind of definition, i've just always been a veal calf ready for slaughter.

so anyway. started with sled push there / sled pull back. up to 3 plates! the pushes are a breeze and the pulls are a motherfucker. next up we did a superset of machine chest press and banded front shoulder raise (hate hate hate, but it feels like you got a nice shoulder massage after) next we moved on to the straight arm lat pull down superset with the lower back extension on the bosu ball. then we put some straps on my ankle and i got buckled into the cable machine where i did mountain climbers and then finally we finished up with a big heavy ball that i raised above my head 3 times and hurled with my chest. that was fun. didn't do any warm down cardio today because i was feeling thoroughly worked out after yesterday and today.

I've been going to the gym now consistently for about a month, I'm working fairly hard and assume I'm making gradual progress.

I noticed that a few movements on machines were being restricted by my shoulder that has been fucked for about six months now and had been getting progressively worse. I mentioned it in passing to a staff member there that was making small talk and they told me to see 'Jim'.

Jim spent 15 minutes with me, giving me a small program of six sets of sixty, specific low weight movements to do twice a week, he also told me I was close to having a frozen shoulder had I not seen him.

So after that initial session and another one I did a few days later, it's like I've had a shoulder replacement.

Thanks Jim, thanks Gym

did yoga today. that's three days in a row i packed up a gym bag and left the house! i'm on a dang roll. gonna try and squeeze something in before donating blood tomorrow and then regular PT session thursday i wanna keep the dang streak goin. so yeah today i got there with like 2 minutes to spare before yoga so no time for warmup but had a pretty good yoga class, good amount of stretching and sweating but i got my first taste of the like your solarplexus is where understanding and love comes from or whatever kind of a teacher. aside from all the eye rolling the actual yoga stuff was great. but i'd be happy if the regular lady i liked is back next week.

So Jim totally fucked me.

I began my 6x60 set this morning and into my second set something exploded in my back. Couldn’t get up from the bench, hurt to breath, couldn’t pick up my water bottle & towel. Made it to the change rooms, was trapped in there for 10+ minutes being unable to get dressed or up from the bench.

Made an emergency physio booking. The bloke there went through my range of motions and said what Jim suggested was madness. So here I am stuck in bed. Everything is excruciating. Thanks Jim.

UGH

I knew going on vacation for two weeks in CA and staying at my parent’s house was gonna be a fucking DISASTER

lots and lost of downtime

house literally fucking FULL of snacks

my mom cooking amazing (but not always the most healthy) meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner

i’ve likely only gained maybe 1 pound, if that, in the two weeks i’ve been here, and I’ve tried to work out every single day, but it feels like so much moorrreeee ugh

so i did make it out to the gym today (4 in a row!) did warm up for 7.5 minutes cos i was still feelin fresh at the end of 5 so went til i was gassed. started with the ab crunch machine for 4 sets. assisted pull ups for 3 sets. a superset of box jumps / elevated push ups and then 3 sets of sled push (3 plates i'm so strong) and then when i went to donate blood the lady said it's good to get the blood pumping before and my hemoglobin was killin it so she's probably right you can't believe these hemoglobins

back in tomorrow for regular session with PT and makin it 5 in a row HEYO

robot chachi don't quit now there is still time to gonna get in shape for this summer!

day 5 in a row (i'm really on track to look by this summer now) back in with PT.

regular warm up and then started with a super set of walking lunges with dumbbells and wall sits for 30 seconds (and this is where it gets nuts because i LOVE sitting and hated this) it is absolutely nuts how it starts burning in like 2 seconds and lasts the whole god damn time. that is super rude imo. by the end of the supersets my legs were just on fire. so then we moved on to single leg hamstring curls on the cable machine so we were like isolating each leg i guess. then we went back to super set of chest supported dumbbell rows with hammer dumbbell curls. then we were gonna do the inchworm thing super set with plank but instead we didn't cos i had a dumb scrape on my elbow and i'm a big baby and it hurt so we did woodchops instead because the core is important and i've done this woodchop one before the low to high one and the side to side but this is the first time i really felt like i was doing it properly like i felt it real good in the guts.

so trying to figure out if i'm gonna keep this streak going. i could do that friday yoga tomorrow, but that's probably the teacher i didn't really care for. (yoga question: is she saying sit bones? or sits bones? or sitZboNeZ? and does she mean ass bones?) or i could just do another by myself session or i could take the day off since i don't have to work this weekend and i could do something both those days too? i just dunno! i'm feeling great, but it's probably nice to have a day off right? or i guess i could just go in and ride the bike in the morning maybe? i dunno. i'm torn between keeping the streak and sleeping in.

Take the break and re-group for another good week. So common to see people burn out in the short run and then give it all away. You're doing great Virile but need to be careful in not abusing your enthusiasm - always think in the long term.

Vacation is, thankfully, almost over.

I am so fucked after a solid month of eating too much and not ever working out. Taking an entire month of vacation was great except for this one, extremely significant, thing.

Fortunately I've got lots of incentive to get back in shape by next March. :ahuh:

I went on a 1.5 mile run/walk yesterday and my body hurts an absurd amount. I was in “great” shape until I broke my wrist and stopped doing yoga/anything.

as per the EXCELLENT advice yesterday today i did fuck all. slept in til 9:30, made breakfast and a green smoothie and passed back out til 1:30 before going to work. it was freakin glorious. so over the last few days i had a normal enough appetite but since i didn't do anything today i'm wondering why i'm eating everything in sight. like i had breakfast, smoothie, woke up had a sandwich/finished smoothie. got to work and there was like a pizza party going on so i had two slices then a bunch of candy from my co-worker and now i just had dinner and i'm still hankerin for something else. is it normal on a day off to be sooo hungry?

Yep your body is in recovery mode, requiring more nutrients both for recovery and in preparation for your next physical onslaught. Need to fill it with nutrient dense satiating food though not pizza and candy. Plenty of protein, moderate amounts of low GI carbs and low amounts of good fats. Food shopping and preparation and eating are just as important as time in the gym.

didn't do anything yesterday. ate well except for movie popcorn and soda. but instead of going to the gym definitely took a nap instead.

back in today. regular warmup. started with superset of box jumps and pulse lunges with bodyweight. then moved up to the bigger size kettle bell for swings and superset that with the plank up and downs on the bosu ball. next up underhanded scoops superset with chest supported front shoulder raise (neutral grip!) and then another superset (damn i didn't notice everything was superset today) wide grip lat pulldowns superset with the ab crunch machine, moved up on that one too. then we had a few minutes left so did suicides. she said if the second round was longer than the first i had to do three. first round 1:28, second 1:26. what up :awful:

back in tomorrow for yoga. hopefully it's not the stomach chakra lady again.
