He's a billionaire who tried to sell his fans on supporting the last administration. Dude fucking sucks. You guys idolize a shitty person. Express contrition now.
he ran for president.... i think he wanted his fans to vote for him?
lol you don't think there might have been *something* else behind that
you think he ran to take christian votes away from trump? i think hes just really into himself and his ideas so he wanted to run for president
The entire effort was just republican operatives trying to get him on swing state ballots at the last minute.
what was the vibe like in the crowd? on the stream it was basically impossible to hear anything except the music so it was hard to get a sense of how people reacted to anything.

yeah a lot of the time a song would end and it would sound like polite clapping

it would fit in with what he played last night tonally more or less. has made my life immeasurably richer over the past 18 months or so or whenever i first heard it.
it's a masterpiece.
the Yandhi demos are super fascinating. went down the rabbit hole with them a year or so ago and this one was def a standout.

my hot take is that kanye is basically like a star wars franchise now - new stuff is going to be in the kanye universe and if you like that universe you'll have fun, but it's also probably legit to say you love the old work and you're not interested in the new bc it's just not the same
he definitely has a "new" signature sound now, but i dunno if it's terribly interesting. We want the bangers but I'm not sure that's his thing anymore. It kinda reminds me of how eminem just started filling his albums with Stan tracks. the closest we now get to a "banger" is something that sounds like a B-side to Cruel Summer

Wanting him to make enjoyable music at this point in his career seems reasonable. Defending his religion/politics/grift is a whole different level that I don't understand and seems ridiculous.

speak for yourself, i love introspective 4am songs
i like the Cudi stuff he's doing now but i don't want full albums of it-- especially since some of the production he does for other artists shows he still has the ear for other styles

forest design wrote:Honestly, with his back catalogue I'm good on 50 minute opuses from him. I think it's pretty unrealistic to expect that, really ever again. He's never released a project that wasn't rewarding in some way, even if the last few haven't been masterpieces. Tbh i've enjoyed the messy, unrehearsed nature of how he's worked for the last 5 or so years
yeah, though who knows what'll happen down the line. i don't think he's lost the capacity/will to do something truly great again.
definitely funny to go into this feeling like "ohhh man i wonder if we've got a KANYE DIVORCE ALBUM coming!!" and then really the only song about it is just "i miss my family, i miss my family"

for me the distinction of late period kanye begins with the vibier section of pablo
waves, water, etc.
thats just how i'm contextualizing it at least. it makes sense for him to just be a more mellow moodier artist after going full on maximalist abrasive on yeezus and having kids
