i'm playing the snes version emulated on the wii. with the pro controller or whatever it's called it feels pretty close to the original snes experience i think

15's combat system took some getting used to but ultimately it might be my favorite. game is not good otherwise though

it's worth playing for the beautiful world design and the banter between characters, but it's a game where I would entirely welcome a "tour" mode with no combat at all

my appreciation for ff15 at the time was entirely based on thinking of it as a modern shenmue yeah

the gargantuan leap in quality of the battle system between that and ff7 remake is really astounding.

you definitely don’t need to restart imo. there are random battles if you want to practice (and honestly sometimes these can kick your ass) and it generally doesn’t really matter if your generic party members die

I have to be honest I'm not finding this game very fun and more just fucking frustrating. 1 things goes wrong and you have to completley shut the game off to restart, there's no soft reset. You have to grind to even be able to stand a chance on the third battle and even random grinding battles will fucking kill you.

I don't know, guys

I'm with you Kenny. I never found it anything but impossibly hard and tedious.

final fantasy tactics advanced was a bit more straightforward. I think I actually made it thru that one as a kid

yeah I played a grip of FFT Advance and remember liking it.

I'm wondering if the game was great for the first time a tactics game like it was really successful but maybe I like the genre more when it's a little more accessible

Just the inability to soft reset in a game that needs lots of resets, and then when you do you have to go through the long dialogue of story missions again with no ability to skip.

I liked FF7 a bunch. Immediately started a game plus campaign now that I didn’t have to do any exploring. But I tapped out after having to do the batch of side quests before starting the seach for Aerith

doing regular FF7 replay on xbox game pass. im just starting and there's something just very soothing and chill about grinding even at early stages of the game. sucks that every AAA RPG now is all action based.
