I just read pfk's review of The Redeemer and the article in the op was a much needed cleanser

heads up NYC'ers, this is next tuesday @ Pioneerworks

Pioneer Works is pleased to present Garbaggio, a new performance by musician and artist Dean Blunt. Garbaggio is one of three new Blunt performances commissioned by Czech arts organization PAF and created on-site at Pioneer Works during the artist's Music Residence.

quick hype williams story -- when i worked on a farm the suburban we drove into town only had a cassette player in it, so i made a mixtape on cassette where the first song was the dean + inga version of "baby" off of "black is beautiful". then the cassette (which was almost exactly the length of a one-way trip into town) got stuck so everyone who drove the car for like a year wound up listening to it lol

i got super into dean's album with joanne robertson, called walhalla, in a big way over the holidays. copped it and noticed that it's escalating in value, as with the rest of his catalogue. do people generally enjoy it? some straight up gorgeouness on there.

joanne robertson's solo stuff is v nice also

I think Black Metal might be one of my favourite albums of all time. The Big Star sample in Lush kills me.

dean blunt should just keep releasing this weird mixes/sound collages to youtube/soundcloud/whatever and never release a proper album ever again

(I'm just kidding dean, please release black metal 2)

This is pretty cool. Pretty similar vibe to Walhalla, and not just because Joanne Robertson is all over the first half. Panda Bear stuff is surprisingly good too.

Apparently there's going to be one of these dropping every Friday this month for the NTS residency? Awesome.
