Let's talk Aguachile Alley

i was really excited for VB to be "heat sig but fps (but good)" when i first saw it but it looks like it doesn't have nearly the same potential for lateral thinking in the ship raiding segments? i dont know if i've seen late game yet so maybe you get access to some crazy things, but the parts that i saw were "enemies run at you and you shoot them"

there's a lot of "run past the enemies" too, either sprinting to dodge projectiles or sneaking by when their backs is turned
the stealth has pretty bad feedback. the game definitely tells you that enemies don't hear you when you're walking, but you have such a clomping metal footstep it doesn't feel right even though it works

I'm not on the praise train yet, but the groundhog day resets seem like a neat way to mix playing at your own pace and hurrying up.
only been at it for about an hour and the concept is definitely there- I'd be surprised if it doesn't end up worth the $15?
it's also something where you probably don't want to read guides or spoilers because there seems to be a handful of very specific threads to chase

trouble wrote:Void Bastards has a lot of style but I really find the game boring. I just think I really don't like these progression based rogue-lites. Like Dead Cells had much cooler combat and a lot more experimentation but even then I found it hard to look past the skeleton of the whole thing and VB has even less going on.
I hate to agree with this post. Really wanted to like both those games. Dead Cells is good for a run here and there and I've only played a bit of Void Bastards but the pacing is clunky to me.
I did have a good run last night where I was on a ship full of screws and gun points down to 5 HP and had to get off the ship. I just realized you could pay to see enemy locations and was able dash off the ship after turning off security. That was a good and fun situation.

i think void bastards is incredibly good for one playthrough and then after that you probably don't want to touch the game again

I was considering picking up Void Bastards but I think I'll hold off.
Did anyone looking for something turn-based with similar theming play Deep Sky Derelicts? Or Starcrawlers?

I just bought outer wilds
I'm not really into exploration games but this one seem to have enough of a gameplay drive to give a shot
and the variety and dreamlike fantasy of it all seems pretty appealing. I got a steam link recently and this seems like a swell couch game

It's not executed very well but it is the exact thing described. The concept and style were enough for me to get my hours out of it (that and it being one of the few recent things that will run on my busted laptop). Actually wait I don't think the "dungeons" are procedural, or if they are it's minimal.
I like Starcrawlers a lot even if it's sometimes hard to tell if something's a design decision or a mistake. But I guess the storyline missions in that are also static, it's just side jobs that are procedural.

I think the thread has talked me out of doing void bastards
but it's okay because I am currently doing an oakland athletics ootp save where I individually manage each game
a season runs from april to september and I just reached may

i would hate myself
honestly the basic gameplay loop of god eater (pretty much what code vein looks to be) is compelling enough, it's just done in an extremely mediocre and anime way
if code vein improves upon that in any way im gucci

reading era impressions though it seems people say it's in the realm of bad to mediocre and just play nioh/souls instead
