This sounds annoying but it was actually fun, and I didn't mind dying after my whole team got away but me, having been mindfucked or whatever by jacking out too quick.

Still annoyed at the whole interacting with all five objects you can in a map and then moving on thing,, but its enjoyable overall and if anyone ever makes competent modules I'd be excited to play them.

just got to this point in the game and it's tense as heck, pretty impressed. and there were a lot more non-story interactive points in this level, with the bunks and lockers and cult members. so i'm excited to see what players come up with now.

spoilers but how did you get into the inner sanctum area? i came across probably like 3 ways to get back there, but ended up chloroforming that head cult leader in the storage room and nabbing his badge. the story's dead linear but i like how many paths that're available.

Tell the lady at the front desk the singer is signing autographs, she''ll then leave the desk. There's a box of blank id cards at her desk take one. Then take that card to the kitchen and melt it on one of the burners. Take the damage card to the guy guarding the door. Tell him you damage your id card and need a new one. He'll let you into a room where you can forge a card.

i guess someone's making some fifth element/bladerunner crazy taxi clone as well: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/168 ... collateral

Yeah it's surprisingly competent. I used to own it and it's a completely slight game and easily breakable, but it's good fun to unlock stuff and hear simpsons jokes

I think i did a mix of things. The chloroform I never even saw, though. I found a card for the inner sanctum in a locker, and i also did the forging trick. with my decking skill i made one that could also go all the way to the inner sanctum. so basically if someone has a lot of time to spend modding this game I can see a really competent depend-on-your-wits, charisma, hacking, etc. kind of mission with no combat being fun. there was an update yesterday or today fixing some issues, among them was "a slew of typos", which made me laugh.

yeah they nerfed the shotgun kneecap thing i was abusing to no end. sapped -1 AP on hit, with a splash to nearby target for -1 AP, for only 1 AP and had 0 cooldown. pair it with that +1 AP shaman buff and it completely locked groups down. skills that sap/boost AP seem to be the way to go over damage.

man i did not expect SOE, of all the fucking developers, to come out and show what is probably the most advanced pseudo-voxel terrain system/level editor/toolset ever made and then almost by default put it into the hands of everyone. i don't care about everquest the game but holy shit

i'm more saddened by the cool bits being developed for just another cookie cutter fantasy mmo. couldn't they've churned out anything else but a knights and goblins mmo to showcase these innovations. it's just wasteful.

the technology isn't smoke and mirrors but for the game to work they'll have to build in limits; not into the engine, but into classes and builds and maybe properties of the environment. though it'd be cool if say a city can get leveled and it's completely up to players to rebuild it. but, yeah, why couldn't it be anything but everquest

he briefly mentions the voxel destruction isn't permanent, so while things get tore up, i'm sure an hour later and an exit of the zone all the environmental changes will be reset. i'm more impressed really with the needs-based, reactionary AI stuff. cause he's right, predictable, static spawn zones with the same area-type monsters are the most boring shit if you play for long enough

emergent AI as he describes is basically left 4 dead's AI director plugged into their MMO. it's not gonna be anything like a pure simulation, so its success or failure comes down to how they design the game and tweak the director around it

No real strategy. Just fun to watch and have open while you're doing other things.

It's A.I. controlled mugen, by the way.

just posting as a placeholder so i dont feel guilty about not having anything to say yet

i finished the first episode the other day. it feels surprisingly like the original, or what i remember from having the shareware version. it's really, really fast and really, really stupid and really, really unoptimized. it looks like shit but seems to have way steeper requirements than like crysis or something, which is kind of annoying. i had to cut the resolution and a lot ofthe quality settings to get it to run smoothly, but i guess the speed of the gameplay both necessitates a smooth frame rate and makes pretty graphics (even if it had them) superfluous, so whatever.

really enjoying it so far, though. and i guess some of the dumb stuff i kind of get a kick out of, like you can reload your weapons but it does absolutely nothing.

i kind of wish they had gone with a throwback weapon inventory instead of a more contemporary 4-slot switchout system (at least that's what it appears to be so far), but i do like that the bullet weapons have infinite ammo.

other than that though it really does play like a mid-90s fps for the most part. keys and everything.

no remorse at $15. gonna start the second ep right now.

maybe try the multiplayer too. heard that any chat you do is read out by a text-to-voice thing? that's awesome if that's true.
