What's the best Paradox game for someone who hasn't played any? I bought Crusader Kings 2 in a humble bundle

I finally played Skyrim when it came to the Switch and was enjoying it but then I tried to get a home in the city I wanted (I can't remember the name but it's in the south east cornerish of the map) and then found a quest I couldn't beat immediately and it killed my momentum lol. You have to kill some guy and he spawns with a much higher level than you whenever you meet him and I just couldn't be bothered grinding to get it up.

I want to talk about Skyrim too.

Let's see here. My favorite thing about elder scrolls has always been collecting endless random shit and decorating my house with it and my favorite thing about PS4 Skyrim was that I could spend hours carefully placing and replacing objects around the house and then the next time I walked in the door every object in the building would explode and ricochet around like a bag of unpopped popcorn thrown into a pulsar.

I stopped playing it while in that vampire quest hell dimension place.

To me Skyrim is AT LEAST the 49th best game of the decade and any list placing it lower fails.

thread was about it a while ago, good game but doesn't feel endlessly replayable to me, do some spire slaying if you haven't, otherwise enjoy 5-10h of content, maybe more

Yeah that's pretty much the consensus, but for me personally I bounced off ck2 pretty hard as my first paradox game. What led me down the rabbit hole was Europa Universalis IV -- probably because I'm way more interested in the time period.

Victoria II is the real answer though

Victoria 2 seemed like it never got enough development love. Only two expansions is pretty light.

I like ck2 and eu4 equally. I guess it comes down to which time period you prefer.

stellaris seems really great but I only have 20 hours with it. Playing as a hive mind alien race or a central computer seems really appealing, but I haven’t flushed out the basics yet.
