Oh wow that Light is so lovely and moving, I'm sure I've listened to it 100+ times, it's a part of me now on an early Simpsons/Hejira/ 90s Beasties level. I had a moment in a trial later that year when I was on my feet in a cross examination really flowing and that jam started playing in my head. Somehow I've never sought out a video of it so it'll be cool to watch.

Ooh yeah that's one of those aggressively ambient early 3.0 simples right, like Superball? 8/6 has also got the really funky Cities jam with the huge spontaneous crowd reaction when the band locks in. A Frankenstein show made of highlights of that 3 night run would be stellar.

that Simple gets into this insane bounce space state, it’s super hard to describe, but it’s more upbeat than ambient, super Fishman led

look I had to drive us home to see our parents the next day

can you imagine seeing those old people within like a week of taking acid in 2020?

I can’t even imagine seeing them at all

... and then we drank the 18 year aged scotch of a Cuban political prisoner, who upon being released 5 years later was quoted on the plane home: “the first thing I’m going to do is kick my feet up and pour a glass of scotch!”

good times.

I was way too hopped up on goofballs to notice how average this show was, which in retrospect this was the show to be hopped up on goofballs. What I wouldn't give to be buying moon rocks from a guy in the camden parking lot again.

anyway happy 20th anniversary to this friend

we're in the middle of a really good week of 20th anniversay shows from 6/28 to 7/4/00

did we commemorate the 20th anniversary of 6/14/00 itt? i think a lot about how when i got into phish that show was like 18 months old and it felt like ancient history even THEN, and now it's like, an impossibly long time ago

I think I mentioned it while also commemorating Mud Island Tweezer from 5 years earlier. 5 years between those two shows!

Wow, this jam is awesome. I love when they are in the really bleepy-bloopy modes with Page on the clav and Trey messing with the little guitar loops

Also, the soundboards from 2010-2012 just sound so damn good to me. Mike and Fish's tones are just so full and deep.

Trey's interview reminded me I got misgendered in the MSG bathroom on 12/31 and it really fucked with me for a bit that night, I bet those people's contribution to the show was breaking Trey's sky platform.

That also got me thinking about how straight cis white male the jamband/indie jam/conklincore scenes are in terms of performers, and trying to think of any out LGBTQ+ artists in that world. All I came up with is one solo singer/guitarist dude that the queer Phish fans instagram posted about.

ugh fucking mad for you, Alth.. I also feel like Phish is one of the spaces I’m most guarded about my appearance and queerness and gender expression much of the time... so fucking maddening, just another cishet white male contradiction of terms... peace and love for those who look like me, y’all!

annnnd are you talking about my good friend Garrin Benfield perchance??
