been listening to that Tweezer a lot... it’s interesting to try and contextualize it with the other significant jams of 3.0 (and a little beyond)
I think the 5 minute centerpiece of the jam is one of the best passages of improvised music they’ve ever played, which puts it alongside the Nassau Tweezer, for instance
the first 20 minutes of the jam are very old school Tweezer, with a great, straightforward peak that hits harder than this description gives it credit for, but isn’t maybe as notable on its own as say 12/28/12, 1/2/16, or 12/29/18
I really really enjoy the jam immediately after the Eno section, which I’ve been thinking of as a Miles - On the Corner-lite jam, with Page’s Rhodes playing being particularly fierce before things mellow into a Phishier groove as Trey returns to a lead voice... once again reminiscent of Nassau’s post-peak jam, which I think is extremely underrated in the shadow of the whammy-driven bliss peak
I’ve vacillated a bit on the final peak, which does have a nice, psychedelic underpinning to it, and features a fantastic NOTE that recalled the 2 minute Hood note peak from the previous evening... once again, taken alone this final section is not all that and a bag of chips, but it’s still a v v nice bag of chips, and I’d be thrilled to have it cap off any jam, let alone one in which we were already as elated as we were in the context of the rest of the ride we had all just been on
overall I don’t think the scope of the jamming is as diverse as the Tahoe Tweezer, and I don’t think it features as bombastic a SINGULAR moment in the jam as Trey’s woosplosion (this term is officially retired as of the end of this sentence), but force me to choose and I’ll take likely the one I was at with the improvisational centerpiece that couldn’t be more perfectly composed for my ears... when Mike brought things down to that simple of a line... you knew it was for real... Fish!!!... Page!!! (Page almost whiffed on the synth tone, kudos for sticking with it
).... and then Trey stepping out of the way until it was time for him to weave in between Page’s notes... ugh, so good.
