How was it?

Also, that tour seems very "missing a festival" given the lack of NE dates, but I thought it seemed like consensus was that it wasn't happening this year?

AC cap is anywhere from 25k-50k so I believe that’s sort of the trade-off.. 27 shows this summer, what’s their yearly cutoff in 3.0? Is it 50 shows a year? curious to see if there will be a fall tour, maybe something small like last year with a Halloween start or finish? as one rumor season ends, another begins... namaste.

Garcia Peoples was SOOO GOOOD, they had the riffier bass player tonight, who fucking killlllled it... some serious Phil and Jerry 68 vibes going on... much more expansive jamming than during their set at the 12/30 show.. yea it was very very good, I’m totally on board.

AHHH.

I'm pretty curious about what they'll look like personnel-wise going forward. DS does have the strongest vocals but that's not what makes this band obv

Wait a sec this is phish thread

So I guess it’s finally time for me to cross “go to a Phish show” off of my bucket list since they’re doing two dates in Atlanta.

These prices are ridiculous though. Are there any insider tips on scoring reasonably priced tickets after they’ve gone on sale or is my best bet to wait until closer to the actual show to score some off a local reseller?

Not to derail the thread more, but wasn’t aware of the revolving member situation. What’s the deal with that? Just the bass player?

OG bassist, who's also their strongest vocalist (eg sings on Heart and Soul), is in theater school or sth in Chicago, is often not around. Sometimes when he's back around Andy switches instruments, sometimes he isn't there. Andy also just got a gig as a contributing editor at pfork, which is kinda an interesting situation

I'm also excited for a new venue, should bring a new energy! My last show was 2014 in Alpharetta, not a scorcher by any means but very fun 2nd set. 1st set Gumbo is all you could want in a 7min jam

First line of defense is the lottery, Cone. Especially for what I’m assuming is a GA show????? Then you can worry about strategy.

I could live in the Shipwreck groove at about 10:00... sometimes I just open the MartianMonster App just to listen to that part looped

and then the peaky section starting at 17:45 is just so beautifully understated and perfect... total fuckin' glory through melodic simplicity

I think for ease of use I will just buy the package for MX and if people wanna throw me a few buck that’s cool. Worked ok for SC in dec.

Do we wanna go with gambra’s server or simply use twitch again? I vote the latter personally.

As for summer, I might be living in Oregon, New England, Minnesota, or conceivably Hawaii in July/August so I’m not making any plans until until I know next month.

I’d put Atlanta as a high likelihood visit though, I have a friend who lives basically across the street from the venue.

I can hear the jam you're talking about in my head k_uger, it's so great.

Was considering Dick's but I'm 99% sure I'm skipping all Phish this summer too. Doing 8 summer shows last year was fun but it left almost no vacation time for anything else. If they do Halloween this year I'm going to try and go though. Past behaviour is no assurance but they have done it every second year since 2014. I guess if they don't do a fall tour I might try and get to Dick's but (a) the tour announcement didn't include the usual "no more shows this summer or fall" language and (b) last minute Dick Tix seem hard to find.

I can get the server up for these shows if you want it as usual, if Twitch is working without issues though then use whatever you'd like!

some Phish thoughts since I’ve started listening again after about a month off.. I’ve had the Baker’s Dozen release spinning mostly this week

-I finally like that Blaze On... it’s got a lot of charm in the delicate jamming that is the bulk of it.. BUT it only really works because it’s first on the set, AND there are still some other choices I would have made to kick it off and/or other 20 minute jams that are better

-I do love that Everything’s Right now too.. at first I thought: well each version since then has been better and better, but that one is a very cool groove odyssey that’s less about any one peak, and speaks well enough for itself

-the Ghost may seem redundant after the better Chalk Dust jam, but I really really really like that Ghost jam too... it’s still the Blaze On that I’d have omitted for a more psychedelic or minor key jam, not the Ghost

-the Chalk Dust peak is still stunningly brilliant... up there alongside the Vegas Golden Age explosion and Tahoe Tweezer post woo shredding as the (three?) most transcendent and moving (upbeat) HOSE moments of the modern era

Got all my lottery tickets fulfilled. Hasn't happened in a couple years.

Gonna do Dick's all 3 days and Fri and Sun Deer Creek. I have to skip Saturday to go see The Doobie Brothers with my family.
