So the wife/book author definitely got murdered right? Love that this cabal of child traffickers took out everyone who got too close to the truth but left the True Detectives untouched lolToggle Spoiler

Love the police station where the father of the missing child/murder victim can just constantly walk in on detectives talking about the big case.

I think someone here mentioned how everything is just shot in rooms and it's definitely been on my mind since. Really miss those wide sweeping swamp shots of season 1. Where the hell did those go. They probably filmed this whole thing in a studio

The ending of this episode was effectively done but I still think this show stoinks. I can't get over Nic writing in not just one but two scenes where Scoot just scoots on by the police station and overhears/sees crucial parts of the investigation.

del, it seems pretty obvious to me that scoot is actually this season's true detective, so why not rethink your thought smart guy

each season has a common theme of "god damn it! bureaucracy is getting in the way of solving this case!" so i do think scoot is actually true detective this season because he just goes and gets down to solving what has happened. lol.Toggle Spoiler

I wanna think Nic justified this as being "shakespearean"

Anyone else concerned about Scoot's emotional forehead veins? No one wants Scoot to blow a gasket.

this season seems way more about the struggles of bureaucratic institutions. i don't think the DA is involved on the hoyt aspect, he just wanted to look like a superstar in 1980 and when the chance came along to pin the murders neatly on the trashman he took it. and it seems like the cops are missing something in every episode. mediocre police, a meddling DA, a region dependent on the wealth of a big family and their industrial whims. i unno. i agree that pizza is an idiot for not coming up with a better way to have scoot acquire the information he does than just walking around a police station and overhearing things, but it's still pretty compelling subject matter to me.Toggle Spoiler

scoot acquiring the intel by just hanging around the police station is like when you've been wandering around somewhere so long in a video game without a clue of what to do that the npcs around you just start loudly yelling out to each other where they are thinking of goingToggle Spoiler

the line that went something like "god rested on the 7th day but he should've finished up what he started instead of slacking off" belongs in the pantheon of Pizzalotta quotes, maybe one of those daily calendars should come out.
