so i did my traditional year end list exploring and this is by far the best thing i found. for those who haven't heard it here's a video of a track:

and here's some other tracks

https://soundcloud.com/arca-2/uenqifjr3yua

and here's a link to an EP http://uploaded.net/file/mm4fed6j/www.N ... 013%29.rar

(sorry i know it's an uploaded link but it's a small file. will re-up if requested)

sorry if there's already a thread but search only came up with a few posts scattered in members only threads.

i'm super psyched about this guy. what else is there i should check out? what's he/she/they got coming up? :)

yeah it took me a while to come around on it because i'm really burnt out on dark, reverb drenched breathy avant r&b or whatever, but it's legitimately very good stuff.

maybe that thing i mentioned isn't even overdone it's just that on first listen all the choices seemed cliche, but the production and songwriting is actually really good and compelling

In Melbourne, probably around the time the stretch EPs came out, our intrumental beats scene was like WAY oversaturated. It was like every kid who had found out about J-dilla went out, bought ableton, turned off quantise and released just way too much aimless nonsense and the local punters were eating it up. every fucking beat sounded exactly the same and I couldn't get my fucking head around it.

Someone pointed me in the direction of Arca and I was like: oh my god, finally this is someone actually taking "Beats" (whatever the fuck that is) and doing something pertinent with it. I have much respect.

yeah, just read that it was getting a vinyl and my friend missed out as well. it's a really great album/mix/whatever

there's also never enough dark bassy avant r&b in the world either. it's not like when the weeknd had that one stretch or usher had one single, there's a lot of consistently good stuff coming out of kelela and tinashe and the likes.

Been really getting into &&&&& lately.

Would it be fair to lump fka/arca with OPN as some sort of post vapourwave sound? Seems like a thing...

getting more from fka twigs than arca, but i look forward to spending more time with both.

i think i listened to 'papi pacify' 10 times in the last two days. i don't do that very often.

So does Arca have a full album coming out this year or not?
And I feel like this year is really about, just the year of realizing stuff.
