there’s something so funny about turning around to watch Tim leave the room and having the movie clip be just in your periphery when he returns to get Max to drive him home

it's one of the best things ever. i'm so happy it exists.
Me, I'm fine because the Bordeaux fun fair is setting up and I find the fairground people. Welcome in my world:
God I came into this thread to say I was happy they were going to go back to the normal format only to discover I have not been properly "teching out."
think this might've been tim's best performance overall. the bridge/lawyer story, the interjections during gregg's review, i have no idea how he didn't break during the opening. and gregg's "no one does" killed me.
really should get around to donating to the special. has the "road to oscar" podcast started yet?

This interview with Gregg from last year was illuminating and it seems to really bear out in last night's episode
Do you consider yourself the straight man of On Cinema?
Eh, I don’t know about that. I look at it as we’re both horrible people, but his is more blatant and mine is more passive aggressive. There’s a lot of delusion and weird ego. He’s just more hatable with a lot of things he’s doing. I kind roll my eyes at what he does, but when I get the chance to take control of On Cinema, what I do is equally despicable.
Yeah, I get that. I guess your character is closer to how a regular person would lash out compared to Tim’s.
His character is interesting because he fancies himself as a Renaissance Man who can do anything and he’s such a dreamer. He’s got these schemes and feels he can conquer any world. And I’m just a stick-in-the-mud who only wants to talk about these really dull movies. So in a sense, he should be looked at more as a hero than me because I’m just interested in the most shallow interpretations of boring things and Tim is actually trying to create things. But since he’s a tyrant and inept at everything and possibly evil and a murderer, it’s much easier to hate him.
it's true that there are a lot of moments where Tim despite his mania is also somehow the reasonable one in the room
like the hat thing this season didn't seem like such a big deal to get mad about until you see this episode and what the logical conclusion of Gregg gaining control looks like
so goddamn funny

part of me was hoping they'd actually subject the viewer to all 20 or whatever Popcorn Classics like the time Tim read out Joe Estevez's entire filmography

Same. I actually made the mistake of seeing what the episode length was when Gregg mentioned all the other ones they had off screen, and disappointed myself knowing it wasn't gonna happen.
Loved the scurry too. Excited for Tim to take down Rosetti the Rat, although my only minor quibble might be that the whole Trump campaign logo parody thing is too familiar at this point. Might be saying that because just yesterday I saw a promotional shot for the new Arrested Development where they used it.

I agree. Tim seems to have toned down more of the overtly Trumpian qualities in his character, so maybe a break between seasons will give them time to come up with a similarly less overt way to stage the campaign (if indeed that's what happens)
