Joe Esteves is incredible in this. He's able to stay in character for 3 + hours of improv. You could tell Greg was loving Joe's disenchantment that there was no Chaplin's chili this year, Joe almost broke him but Gregg couldn't resist asking more questions about it.
I just contrast him with like, the grown up actor from Kramer vs. Kramer, who couldn't resist cheezing a few off script riffs that kind of betray the world of the show. Love ya Joe.
I might have said this before but one day they need to release a deluxe complete On Cinema box set that's like 3 cds 10 blurays and 1 hard bound book of in-character tweets. and an annotated guide that shows you how to experience it all in proper order

most/all of the regulars so perfectly nail that sort of alienated confused look at all times that makes you wonder if they're really in on the joke. I assume they all are more or less but their reactions are so convincing
The sociopathy Gregg begins to exhibit when given clearance from Tim for any length of time is a favorite recurring theme.
Was the implication he had been hindering the pulmonary specialist from seeing Mark because if Mark was brought out of the coma, it would ruin the Living Oscar segment?
I think my favorite small bit on the new special is Tim constantly interrupting with "where are we at on Zero Hour" instead of just checking a clock or phone for the time
god this is SO good. i missed it live, but watching it unravel over 3 hours has been a gift. I can't believe i've never tuned into the previous years' oscar specials
