Some Founders can be pretty crappy, but Red's Rye and the Breakfast Stout are amazing.

i've had a couple of these since i moved, and you're absolutely correct, tasty, cheap, and gets the job done.

worth mentioning they're contract brewed by unibroue

this is cool, i didn't know that.

Getting Schlafly's beers at bars/liquor stores again was a pleasant surprise when I moved to Louisville. Although I've only had their Pale Ale and Pumpkin Ale, both are fantastic and are my go to beers.

so i think life and limb is worth the hype if you can find it - a bar here (actually a bw3's) ended up getting two kegs - sierra is distributed through the miller/coors distributor (not their craft wing) and i'm pretty sure those guys are clueless.

finding bottles has been difficult...

to be completely honest, i'm trying to help the guy out. schlafly's hefe is only hefe i've ever had where there's no banana sort of flavor. it's lighter than their pilsner.

it wasn't just me, no one in our group gave it a score that would warrant a repeat drinking. anyway.

http://hoosierbeergeek.blogspot.com/200 ... party.html

seriously i don't want to come across as a snob, that shit drives me nuts.

i can't be a snob if i searched out the cereal beer, can i?

http://groceryeats.com/2009/10/26/cerea ... challenge/

i hope not, anyway. i'm picking up some bottles over xmas. according to the brewer "it has not aged well"

should be fun.

you'll notice that i said a growler of hefe--which indicates that i would be getting it fresh. key.

i miss it here in nyc, i had no idea it was in louisville. a friend of mine is visiting his family in louisville for the holidays, i'll have him keep an eye out.

it's just strange that mike saying a beer wasn't good would elicit that post. he wasn't condescending.

I had a couple moonglows last night. that's a good one, that moonglow.

My wife loves moonglow (I think it's pretty good too), so I brewed a weizenbock. Carbing it up now...but it's pretty good so far. Weighs in right at 8% abv...she approves.

Awesome restaurant.

Their food is fantastic and their beer offerings are pretty great...sometimes wild. They were selling Westy's for a little while.

Not a fan of DFH's ancient beers though :(

I understand that the publican usually does their monthly beer dinners for like $45 + $15 or so if you want the beer pairings, so I imagine the price would be similar. really, pretty great price for the quality of food and beer you'd be getting.

I had the Cantillon Gueuze a few weeks ago and loved it. I hadn't tried a Gueuze before. I should try the Mort Subite. I also liked the Cantillon Framboise Lambic a lot. I wish they weren't so expensive, you can get like a 4pack of DFH 90min and a nice 6-pack for the same price as most of the good belgains.
