so good!
Ten FIDY Imperial Stout – This titanic, immensely viscous stout is loaded with inimitable flavors of chocolate-covered caramel and coffee and hide a hefty 98 IBUs underneath the smooth blanket of malt. Ten FIDY (10.5% ABV) is made with enormous amounts of two-row malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY is the ultimate celebration of dark malts and boundary-stretching beer.

Grabbed a 2008 and 2009 Pere Jacques Reserves from Goose Island and did a taste test and by far... The 2008 was much much better. Let that shit age man.

Was the Angel's Share still carbonated?
dunno. its out in the car and it's cold outside. the guy that gave me a bottle didn't say anything about the one he had.
all i know is that the angels share i had at gabf in 07 was one of the few beers i remember though all the drinking.

I'd be interested in helping anyone out who would want something that I can get in the Louisville area. I'm interested in trading for whatever, just because I don't know a lot of obscure craft beers/styles.
The only breweries near me that I know of that don't have expansive distribution (I think) are The New Albanian and Bluegrass Brewing Company. PM if interested.

If anyone wants a Surly hookup, I can procure plenty. I have bottles of 2008 and 2009 Darkness, but I'd be hard pressed to part with those.

i dig that beer because it's sweet enough to be belgian. i can't think of too many german beers i really like - i'm sure that's lack of experience more than anything though.

No, they mostly suck.
Actually, a good friend of mine just moved back from living in Germany for a while, and he supports what I've often heard about a lot of European beers: the difference between what you get over there and what you get imported over here is huge. He said there isn't a ton of variety in Germany, but the pilsners and stuff are really, really good, while over here they're nothing special.

had Founders Backwoods Bastard yesterday. Surprisingly balanced for a bourbon barrel ale. I want more.
also, I take back what I said about Milltown in Carrboro, it's awesome. I just need to stay away from the "beer of the month" and actually look at their beer menu.

Have any of you had the Fuller's Vintage that comes in the red box? They've got a few at a store near me, and I'm sure it's outstanding, but I haven't been able to make myself pull the trigger on the 10 bucks for one beer.

Yeah. Fuller's makes such good stuff, but I only ever see their beers around here as singles, and I just can't drop 4 bucks or more on one beer in a store full of six-packs for under 10. It's frustrating.

I'm having a growler of MPLS Town Hall Festivus Coffee Stout. A bit too much coffee, but it's still hella delicious. I think I'm going to have a Founders Imperial Stout next.
