Look at what they’ve done to our beautiful Benz

Image

That’s the glass side that you can usually see through so I’m sure this is their way of ensuring a giant crowd doesn’t form on the street to watch through the side of the stadium. But it looks dumb as hell and this is when we’re supposed to be showing off our sweet gorgeous sports place to the rest of the country.

I have to spend a week in kennesaw without a car for work and it looks like it’s probably going to suck. I thought I could possible take a lyft to get to somewhere cool or just into the actual city but jesus christ it is far away and would be expensive as shit.

Maybe wander over to Marietta? There’s a few neat things in the downtown/Marietta square area I think.

yeah uhh

when we first moved here we were stuck in kennesaw for a week and my memories of that time are like... going to wendys and visiting publix? i haven't been back there in 15 years at this point despite living most of my life in the atlanta area.

kennesaw mountain battle park might be an ok use of that time?

Ok cool. I'll look for some decent restaurants and stuff in Marietta. I just wanted a couple of decent vegetarian spots to try and maybe a place to have a beer that's not an O'Charley's.

I was worried this might be full of civil war reenactment types but I'll probably end up going if I have some free time

there's also a bus that would take you directly from kennesaw to the actual city. i don't have experience using cobb's bus service but when i had to use it gwinnett's was uhh. functional. pretty much only runs during rush hour tho

i have more experience with stone mountain but ime despite the toxic association those places have historically they're mostly just frequented by people that want to experience nature.

Yeah, I get that. We have zero civil war shit near us despite being in the south so I get my assumption is probably wrong.

i've taken cobb county transit to marietta and it was okay. the bus drops you off at arts center station, and from there you could go anywhere in the marta system. or take the free shuttle to atlantic station. there's an xpress bus from acworth as well.

you'd think there'd be some cool stuff in kennesaw because of the college. although i haven't been there so i don't know. that isn't really the case with tech tho either lol.

hmu if you can make it to the city and wanna hang out!

It would def be cool to hang out but I'm thinking that by the time work stuff is finished it will be way too late to take public transport into the city and make it back to my hotel

spent all afternoon on the beltline, it was glorious
I got absolutely zero “retail therapy” emotional boost and it absolutely confirmed that buying things is an empty and reflexive genuflection to a hyper consumerist capitalist system that has indoctrinated me.

the beltline on weekends gave me severe anxiety before covid so I can't imagine how stressful it would be for me now
