*The math goes like this: 24,100 riders per hour during rush hours currently cross the East River on the L. The MTA estimates that between 20 and 30 percent of them — between 4,820 and 7,230 — will get to work by buses, bikes, or other non-subway means. Counting the longer C trains, the MTA will be adding the equivalent of 7.5 new trains worth of capacity, enough to accommodate approximately 15,000 passengers. That would leave between 1,870 and 4,280 commuters unable to squeeze onto trains at all.

i wonder if when the L shuts down companies in manhattan will be more willing to allow their workers to WFH more often, or come in at lunch or something, that would be chill

huh what an idea

i guess the big concerns would be:
1) how consistent is service on a network involving long-range wireless bouncing
2) if service goes down, who do you call? your network’s owner? if so, yikes
3) aren’t there security concerns from bouncing an entire building’s traffic two miles in the middle of the city

As opening day approaches I'm curious if we've got any NYC beach heads in here?

I personally hate the beach, but my wife's interest is such that we spend most free weekend summer days there. We are a Jacob Riis fam and I have to say that a few Narragansetts, an Ample hills cone, and a stop on the way home to L&B Spumoni or Clemente Crab is one of the best city days on my calendar.

'I don't give a f*** if she (inaudible) an eight foot tall basketball player,' he told Clem. 'If we're gonna f*** with n*****s, let's get a rich one!

He admitted to Clem, who is married to his friend Bubba the Love Sponge, that he was 'racist to a point.'

'I'm not a double standard type of guy,' he said.

'I'm a racist to a point, y'know, f***ing n*****s, but then, when it comes to nice people...'

I'll take this at a win for ol pokethedoke. Thank you everyone thank you

Charlie Bird & Pasquale jones are the most over-rated places ever. How does serving cold day old tasting pasta earn them rave reviews?

Hi! I'm visiting for a week right now until Friday. Would be cool to meet up with people at some point. Also, does anyone have a favorite vegan restaurant or two in the city they can recommend?

you can get dosas from thiru's cart in washington square park from 12-4 most days (monday to saturday) go early to scope the whole menu. I like the samosas + pondicherry dosa
you can check his availability here: https://twitter.com/nydosas?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor

and if you make it out to flushing queens, the ganesh temple canteen is reallly sick
