What's good in the Duyv?

i have been there solely because of the name. very cute weird lil hill-y neighbrohood! did not check into any bars. if i remember it felt very isolated in a cool way

Didn’t really flip out over my first trip to Wegmans. Some cool stuff (pre-cut curated cheese plates, big mountain of mashed potatoes in the prepared case, Maryland crab pretzel). But the true indicators of a a grocery store’s inventory, the cereal aisle and chip aisle, were very underwhelming. Also I’m pretty sure I walked the entire store but did not see ice cream. Where the hell they hiding that?

Close enough that I’ll be there a lot but at least for grocery variety it’s got nothing on your average suburban stop n shop.

ive been to wegmans twice already... i love it though i am from rochester and am already in the wegmans shoppers club.

the flow of it is great, aisles are nicely ordered and wide. much cheaper than whole foods. wegmans food quality is tiers above associated and key.

its well staffed and the staff is very friendly.

the first time i went was prime grocery time and it was packed but manageable. i went this morning and it was pretty empty, easily the best grocery shopping experience ive had since i was in college.

they need a fucking wegmans dibella sub shop. also it does not make sense if you dont have a car but if you you do they have alot of parking and validate at the garages if you need to park there.

maybe im projecting but everyone there felt like they were happy to be in a wegmans.

Good piece, I'm a fan and have enjoyed my trips to the new Essex Market. Glad that they've (mostly) done right by a lot of people: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/07/arts/design/essex-crossing.html

Isn’t Essex Market just like Chelsea Market or any other random food hall that’s opened in the past couple years?

i haven't been to the big shiny new essex market, but i think there are vendors that haven't opened yet and in general it's still kind of getting its legs. i also haven't read that times piece yet, but it was a big, complicated fucking project LOTTA INS LOTTA OUTS so whatever. i was pleasantly surprised to hear a lot of early positive reports about it, so i'm excited to go and probably will as soon as the adda/rahi boys open up

Looking for a restaurant on the West side between Chelsea and Upper West Side that's good for boomers. So like, should have comfortable seating and not be crazy loud and like not rush people out. This is for a Tuesday evening and a party of 6.

sort of. i went to this kinda party that wiki did, but it was just the front room, i didn't see the actual stage room in the back. I did meet one of the bookers outside and he was on a bit of acid and super nice. I totally forgot they were doing that fuckin gene clark listening party, which is so odd for that venue/neighborhood.

it seems chill and they are like booking good shows from the jump, i think MIKE did one of the first ones, so cool so far
