I have a back up or two for next week but the places my girlfriend and I go for anniversaries and valentines are getting kind of stale. What are some solid choices in north Brooklyn, date amibaince, nicer but doesn’t need to be a tasting menu or Michelin Star level (but could be if it’s not like $200 a person), secondarily: maybe not booked to hell for next Friday. I feel like I’ve hit up a lot of the spots but looking for any recommendations

Buddy of mine runs the wine program at bar Bete on smith street. Haven’t been but getting a bit of buzz. Montreal esque bistro food.

i'm gonna cover myself in chocolate and hide in a darkened room on valentine's day, so my dude walks in and just sees the faint glow of my eyeballs and then....things get FILTHY

You should do meadowsweet, chez ma tante, or four horsemen. Do not do le crocodile. It isn’t as good as chez ma tante and the food is too heavy. You will be dying from the salt and have stomach pain from the dishes. So if you decide to cover yourself in chocolate you’ll be bogged down.

The whole run is sold out but rush tix on todaytix are only $20, which is crazy given the caliber of the production. Ruth Negga is incredible, the direction is straight masterful, and its fuckin 3.5 hrs long baby

I have to be up on the Upper West Side tomorrow afternoon, can anyone point me towards any good bars or restaurants up there? I'm never ever in that part of town

depends on where in the UWS. mama's too for pizza on broadway and 106ish is pretty solid for their squares. sushi yasaka on 72nd near broadway is one of the best priced sushi places in the city.

urgh i just read about this

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/10/nyregion/nyc-broker-fees.html

The Real Estate Board and the New York State Association of Realtors, which joined in the lawsuit, praised Justice Mackey’s decision. The organizations argued that the impact of the broker fee ruling was both “immediate and devastating.”

The restraining order “means that thousands of hardworking, honest real estate agents across New York State can do business in the same way they did” before the state issued the rule, the presidents of the two groups said in a statement.

* * * *

The lawsuit filed on Monday included comments from some of New York City’s largest brokerage firms, which portrayed the industry as being in dire straits after the ruling.

“Douglas Elliman is currently working on hundreds of current rental transactions in which potential tenants are now threatening not to close the transactions and are refusing to pay commissions,” wrote Hal D. Gavzie, the company’s executive manager of leasing.

fucking blood sucking leeches. maybe they can move to a more ethical line of work, like payday lenders.
