So finally making the Switch jump. Just one question, I already have Breath of the Wild on the WiiU and didn't finish it yet.

Is there a good reason to buy it for the Switch? Like is there DLC or gameplay that's only available on the Switch version? I already know that the graphics are better.

not really, though i think the form factor of the Switch may be reason alone to give it another shot

Thanks. Yeah, I was thinking playing BotW would be cool to play on the go, but it's not as if there isn't plenty of other games to buy for it.

Probably get Smash first to play with the kid, then Odyssey and Party.

so the lack of ability to save during a Wargroove map is a needlessly mean point that makes some maps take way too long and overly punish you for making a few bad decisions (that can take many turns to completely screw you on). I don't know if it was a conscious choice or not or if Advance Wars did it too but it's definitely the reason I've been thinking twice before playing for bed or whatnot.

It was needlessly on brand when I just learned Realpolitik existed and googled it +'socialism?' and then lost interest when I saw there's no socialism or communism possible in the game.

I guess what I'm saying is I want a socialist revolution simulator. You win when you complete the transition to Fully Automated Luxury Gay Space Communism, naturally.

oh yeah-i love the across genres these social games and i'm never going to get everything I want
Civ's obsession w/ antiquated development models and state-of-nature shit
Sim City's Forrester obsession
Tropico is just a dictator simulator
Superpower and Diplomacy were apparently real bad

I'm hoping it delivers interesting decisions in real politiks and I'll probably just play venezuela or greece a bunch of times with self-imposed limitations and add-in scenarios like in Tropico (say-no tourist dock, refuse all extraction demands, no prisons, etc). what is wild is how there are no prisons necessary if you follow neoliberal rulesets and yet

I havent played Wargroove since I overextended my army and lost after a 45 minute game. I'll probably pick it up again soon.

The animations are soooooo slow and skip basically takes as much time as watching them.

they’re pushing out an update fairly quickly that addresses some of the these concerns

The ability to skip battle scenes more quickly. With various options on how this will work.
The ability to force fast map movement to ‘always on’.
Tooltips and more info for the effective/vulnerable charts.
In multiplayer, the host will be able to fill open spots with CPU players.
Display S rank requirements. (Tip for now, it’s always based on number of turns.)
Make it more difficult to accidentally end a turn.
Multiplayer Lobby improvements
Various bug fixes

Re: Rumors that all seem pretty sensible

Mario Maker Switch absolutely needs to happen. I'm surprised it hasn't been ported over already, the WiiU version is super polished and fun. Pikmin 3 was also like Top 5 best games for the WiiU as well. Absolute must buys to anyone who didn't own a WiiU.

tbh tho I just need the next Nintendo Direct to give me any tidbit about Animal Crossing Switch, I am so thirsty for it.

I really really really really hope this means the Mana collection that came out of a few years ago is going to come to the West:
http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/02/square_enix_trademarks_final_fantasy_adventure_and_secret_of_mana_in_the_us

I'm actually pretty surprised it hasn't. But it could mean that the kind of crappy 3D remakes of Sword/Secret of Mana are coming to the Switch

yeah, port it all. i am one of the majority that never got to play anything on the wii u so the switch port machine can keep on chugging as far as i'm concerned

Basically the only thing they haven't ported that I would definitely buy is Xenoblade Chronicles X, which I would be a little sad for because then I'd really have no reason to keep my Wii U but at the same time I would hope they would take the opportunity for little fixes and there's no way I wouldn't buy it.

I'm fine with them porting everything over, it just makes me wish I hadn't bought the Wii U more. I don't get when people get upset at the ports.... just don't buy em

Actually as I was writing this I remembered that they also haven't ported Yoshi's Woolly World to the Switch which is easily the best Yoshi's Island since the SNES

jeeeeez this is hugely disappointing if true

currently playing through the fan translation on a gba cart and it's just such a truly truly special game. the magypsies are some of my fave characters and were such a welcome surprise - queer elemental deities? come onnn! they feel so lovingly depicted to me, especially considering the game is 10+ years old, it'd be a true shame if this was really what nintendo had flagged as "inappropriate" or "controversial" material and pulled the plug as a result
