Link to the Past HD sounds farfetched with the Link's Awakening one just being announced

I could see myself getting bored very quickly in single player if there is no tangible incentive to win stages/try different characters etc.

No manual override on item selection for starters.

it seems like they could just do a straight port/emulation of the original and make boatloads of money (and I mean it remains a beautiful looking game that doesn't really need updating like a game boy game does). but I don't think it would make sense for best buy to be selling that on a cartridge, if that's what that leak is showing...

it's really well done and is probably a blast if you have someone to play with irl. it's just not a single player game imo

It seems silly I haven't bought it because I loved the Bravely Default games and u know I'm about retro graphics but I just do feel wary for some reason

I liked it, but it''s flawed.

The battle system is great, as are the different ways of interacting with NPCs. The boss fights tend to be pretty good too. But the whole thing is tethered to some fairly shallow and dull narratives that all follow the same structure.

I liked it purely because I get more of a kick out of the mechanics of JRPGs rather than narrative, but I completely understand and agree with the criticisms I've read of it.

i loved octopath traveler, but a lot of people didn't like that the plot is not really developed and most of the character narratives follow the exact same pattern

Ive always wondered if alttp could be re-designed to show more of the world at once while keeping the same pixel art. id buy it if it is that and has extra content too

a LttP remake is particularly weird/not likely not only because of the Link's Awakening remake (wouldn't they lead with the bigger game?) but A Link Between Worlds was already sort of a redo of LttP. Pretty strong bets that this is a mistake at some level. Sometimes these retailer leaks are just placeholders or wrongly named

I just assumed all of this Nintendo content was April Fool's but it's not? Crazy.

zelda will be stereoscopic 3d, like playing on a 3ds, and the mario stuff is a couple of new small arenas like astrobot

but that's still enough to make me buy a cardboard vr kit
hahaha mad me chuckle that

All the talk in this thread got me hyped on Mario Tennis and Stardew Valley when those came out. After like an hour of MT like 9 months ago alone, I’m still convinced I’ll eventually spend some time with it. Same experience w SV, but i’m not convinced. So that was kind of a waste.

Oh smash bros too. Prob not my thing, but maybe I’ll pick it up again and give it a try. But probably not.

Smash Bros always tempts me because for each release the game is bigger, there's an even more insane numbers of classic characters available, more amazing soundtrack remixes and Nintendo nostalgia bits and bobs -- but this time I actually resisted because I know I'll never have the patience to get into that gameplay.

I'll probably never play SSB again because I used to dorm with a high ranking competitive player so I associate that game 100% with getting my ass handed to me in unpleasant fashion

Damn I'm finally gonna play Va-11 Hall-A in May:

It looked so cool when it came out on PC but they said it was going to come out for Vita but by the time it did it was announced for Switch so I wanted :rixx:

this is probably the only game out where i'll get destroyed (not uncommon), but then i'll get angry because i feel like i lost to something dumb.

there are times when i lose and am in a respectful awe of how well they played, but usually it's just feeling like the other person is actively abusing something that should have been patched pre-release

i hope the p5 thing is just opening up the door for atlus to bring over some of the older titles but that probably wont happen because they suck

p5 rocks and im happy its gonna be on switch but I have like no desire to replay/double dip on the game any time soon

I've never played a persona game

actually this is probably really shameful to admit but I don't think I've ever played any jrpg through. unless you count super mario rpg. I'm working on valkyria chronicles now but I guess that is kind of a weird hybrid/anomaly as well

PS1 was my console but for some reason I never even tried FFVII (or Metal Gear Solid for that matter). This is only weird to me because I remember buying Xenogears for some reason (I know people love that game but I have no recollection of why I wanted to buy it, and of course I probably played like 3 hours of it)

i would kill for a xenogears switch port tbh

you can speed up and even turn off random encounters on the ff ports if you want which is nice...i do kinda hate how they look w/ the up res'd character models/backgrounds that just look bizarre to me but the games are still good
