Is Mario party worth grabbing for $30 on Black Friday? I played it once and it felt like typical Mario Party (not necessarily a bad thing) and my girlfriend seemed to like it but it also feels like the kind of game that I’ll play twice and never pick up again.

If you'll have a full 4 person party to play with at least a handful of times I'd say so. If it will just be you 2 it will get old quick, there's only 4 boards & it's not as fun going against cpu imo

MARIO Party makes me supremely angry when it’s me and my partner playing against the CPU. So yeah go for it. Wish we’d get a WarioWare remake.

the minigames aren't bad but the boards aren't great and as mentioned there's only 4 boards. Felt like a rip-off to me.

Mario Party is by far the game I've played the least on the Switch

We've played Mario Party probably a total of 4 times since we've gotten it. The mere 4 boards is a real bummer.

We got way more party play from Overcooked and from those Jackbox games.

Mario Party is worth it if it's like 20 bucks or less and if you have more than 2 ppl to play it with every so often

on a related note, I was never sure how much stock to put in the claims that if you use a non-Nintendo dock (or even a non-Nintendo power cable) it could brick your system

The Switch seems kind of fragile behind the scenes

:o the airport lost my nintendo dock and i've been using an off-brand for 2 months...

can you link which one? I've been looking for a 3rd party dock and they all look so sketchy

do not get new super mario bros U. one of the weakest entries in the 2d mario canon.

I kinda want to get that drumming game since its only $20 instead of $50

thanks for the advice. I'm kinda itching for a core series 2d mario cuz I've been playing maker but I'm not crazy good at it so a lot of the user-created content is way too hard for me and the story mode levels are a lil too slight to be satisfying. haven't played another 2d mario since smw tho

dark souls is a contender for best game of all time so that's a pretty safe bet

id reccomend yoshis crafted world over nsmbud, but honestly you're better off just playing yoshis island or mario 3 on the nes and snes online

this might be better for the Retro game thread, but has anyone taken the dive on the Marseille mClassic HDMI for additional upscaling on retro machines?

I impulse bought a modded GameCube with onboard HDMI and was thinking about supplementing with this.

portable dark souls is freaking sick. i think the switch one was my 3rd time buying it. the audio is kinda compressed sounding sometimes but its a great port.

interesting, I played the demo of crafted world but it was too collecting-focused for my taste and still seems way too slight to pay full price. good call on yoshi's island tho completely forgot I started that already

upon further research dark souls seems like very much not my type of game, think I'm just gonna hold out for witcher 3
