Damn, my finger has been hovering over the trigger for buying this on 3DS a couple of times, glad I waited now. It's a sequal-ish to Legend of Legacy which was a Bravely Default-style update of the Saga games, and apparently Alliance Alive makes the gameplay a lot funner. I played a good few hours of LoL and it was beauuuutiful and I wish I had more time to play it but I could tell it would take real elbow grease to beat it and fell off

they have, actually
the first game less so but turok 2 is still fantastic. the third game is too and i'm hoping nightdive brings it to pc soon
if it's not common knowledge it's worth pointing out that many of the people who worked on turok and turok 2 went on to form retro studios and work on metroid prime. there's a lot of proto-metroid prime in turok and turok 2. turok 2 especially
I played for a bit yesterday and have struggled with the controls a bit. For some reason I can't seem to keep in mind which button is the attack button. I don't like using the triggers to attack. But I'm also dumb about changing the configuration, so I guess I'll just keep at it until it sticks in my brain.

i didn't dig that at first, but the R/L triggers for R/L-hand weapon/shield just clicked at some point, and now hell i guess i love it (ps3 version but same principle, i assume)

After initial adjustment (making B accept and A go back in a menu is the opposite of every nintendo game ever) I found the controls to be pretty intuitive, so i'd say just stick with the original mapping.
dark souls is set up the way it is so you can block and attack while simultaneously controlling the third person camera. it's a good thing and you'll get used to it very quickly
