death is my amigo wrote:hey a long time ago somebody mentioned a hotel rooftop pool they like to use that's technically guests only but they had some way around it that was really to do

tried to search and couldn't find anything

does anybody have any fucking clue what i'm talking about because right now i feel like i invented this memory

short of that if anyone could recc a rooftop pool they like..... i'd love to not end up with the tourist bros at the standard...

the Westin Bonaventure downtown has a rooftop pool - you can walk up to it from inside the mall area of the hotel and let yourself in by reaching over the gate and pulling up the handle on the other side. we've been going there for maybe 7? years now and have never been kicked out or asked if we're guests. and they have towels there.
(I see this was already answered though)
Barthes Starr wrote:planning a very special weekend with my partner about a month after we move to LA... what are the best (romantic) weekend trips/places to stay within like ~3 hours of LA?

lots of places seem booked up already, but i've looked a bit in ojai and temecula...

big bear + place with a hot tub and also Idyllwild has some great option as well.

I'm weighing the pros and cons of bringing a big sign that says "NEWMAN OWNS"

People mostly just started leaving 'to beat the rush' after this song. Jerks missed I Think Its Gonna Rain Today.

I, a wise fan, got a $40 black tshirt with I Love LA on the front.

I'll take to the Newman thread if I really need to post further naseum about it but I can say the shuttle from the LA Zoo creamed every other route I've taken to the bowl.

some sgv things

The Laemmle theater in Glendale finally opened.

Pasadena has a commissary with a few dining establishments mostly for app deliveries called "Kitchen United." It has a Canter's, a vegan pizza place called Pizza Plant(pretty good), a burger, grilled cheese, and Musubi businesses too

Pasadena is also finally getting a Mendocino Farms where Abricott used to be, excited for that. Next door is said to soon be opening a "Five Guys," which I don't care about.

Burgerlords closed their Highland Park location a few months ago(i think)and is now some Thai chicken place, bummer.

The best street food I've had was from
https://www.instagram.com/goldenclouds/
vegan and very flavorful. not sure if she still does a night in highland park, might have to catch her at

hey, what’s that bright red thing low in the SW sky the last few nights or so? It’s really surprisingly bright, seems kinda red/orangeish to me. Is it a planet?

So the gf and I are moving to the area in a couple of weeks. We're doing a month to month in Simi Valley with friends while we get jobs and find a better place in a location we want.

There aren't really any great dispensaries around here in Ktown that I'm aware of. At least the ones I've gone to have been ridiculously overpriced. I usually grab shit on my way home from NoHo instead.

ha, i used to do deliveries for them often but they stopped using our platform. good payouts but always kept me waiting a good while. not sure why they're more popular than a lot of the other sushi places, maybe people equate the higher price to higher quality which isn't always true

yeah they do gangbusters on postmates. you know how there are some delivery app only places, where you show up and it’s just a kitchen and a small waiting area for drivers? i went to one of those that was a sugarfish last night, near culver city.
