deadline is reporting reynolds

BREAKING: Ryan Reynolds is in negotiations to star in Alcon Entertainment’s sequel to Blade Runner, the film that will be directed by Prisoners helmer Denis Villeneuve. Ridley Scott, who directed the original classic based on the Philip K. Dick novel, is aboard as executive producer. Harrison Ford, who starred in the original film, reprises his role as replicant hunter Rick Deckard. Tapping into what is considered hallowed ground is risky–even Scott got mixed results when he expanded his Alien film with Prometheus–but Reynolds, the Green Lantern star, adds a certain cool element to the effort. Shooting begins summer 2016 and Hampton Fancher (co-writer of the original) and Michael Green have written the original screenplay based on an idea by Fancher and Scott.

Villeneuve is the perfect director for the really. It'll be trash, but at least it'll be good looking trash

it's a goddamn shame that this team can't get together on an original thing, or even adapting a new short story or something. nope, gotta reboot blade runner because most people have heard of blade runner and are too stupid to buy a ticket for anything they haven't heard of.

I don't exactly think the Blade Runner brand is a huge draw among the general population.

I think you're right but that's the most troubling thing about it. the studios are basically digging up old properties just to get internet hype which they think will translate to box office.

Sounds pretty dumb

Juxtaposing a scifi future and a rural setting is a pretty big cliche
