I probably wouldn’t finish a movie if I had this reaction, honestly. But that’s just me.

The exact opposite of your reaction, whatever that is, has been my reaction to this movie this far.

just watched this again. liked it, picked up on a lot more, but cant help but feel that the world felt very "empty"?

every time there's a tracking shot of K flying over LA, he's the only car in the sky. shouldn't there be millions of them?
there's that one scene in the food court which is pretty busy, and i guess there's a few people here and there in the street scenes, but compared to the OG, the world doesn't feel lived in. it legit felt claustrophobic. it had the same kind of problem that The Force Awakens had to the rest of the SW films. Do filmmakers these days skimp on extras? Is it because they keep sets more closed than usual? something to ponder while i sit on a big leather chair and twirl my beard.

While I got a similar impression warmhouse, I think those desolate flyover shots are meant to speak to the wealth disparity. Most people aren't going to have a spinner after the blackout especially, and think about how different those shots would read if K was skimming endless hills of brightly lit city grid instead of dark concrete warrens

It does jar pretty strongly with those bustling apartment and police station scenes, but I think it's intended to be impressionistic. People have moved from the streets as a meeting place and stay plugged into their homes or their jobs

that street bazaar atmosphere in OG Blade Runner was probably meant to evoke some sort of Orientalist paranoia but ironically it's probably one of the more utopian incidental details
if you are offended by this i am sorry - starwars420@juno.com
