My U-Haul costs totaled $29
Going to keep trying to live like someone who is on the run from the FBI and needs to pull up stakes at a moments notice.

what kind of box packing game do you all have going on? Finna get all mine from the liquor store. Already packed up my energy crystals and homeopathic remedies together in one box. Currently in clearing out shit that's for donations and garbage stage while obsessively lurking the online adds for all the new listings.

I don't really intend to move again unless it's time to buy a house or I relocate for a job

I painted one of these walls with random splashes of blue and green paint and now I'm leaving my painted wall, and the nice wooden flowers and the 2 acres of land

Moving across country and I have just enough furniture that I can't decide whether to take it or leave it.
My possessions:
Large TV
Mattress (queen, Casper ad got me)
Bedframe (simple wire variety)
2 bookcases
maybe 300 books
record player
maybe 10 records i want to keep
rug 8 x 11"
1 recliner
4 folding chairs
2 cat carriers
2 cats
Vitamix
Food processor
2 sheet pans
Other plastic dishes
Clothes
Bicycle air pump and helmet (bicycle died 3 years ago)
Old ass furniture: end table, server, coffee table
And that's it...
Thinking about shipping the clothes and books and putting the cats in the car and leaving the rest.
I don't know why i typed all of that out.

when i moved there was a refugee resettlement group that came and picked up all the big furniture i didn't want to bring with me. they came and hauled it from my second floor apartment. it was a huge relief

I will definitely look into the refugee resettlement thing, that is a great idea.
There is that 1800 JUNK company and they will take anything and triage to goodwill or whatever, but it's actually a little pricey last time I did it.

Question: I've been on a month-to-month lease in my current apartment since 2014, and I'm looking to move this summer into a bigger place. What should I do if a new tenant application asks for a current landlord reference? I don't want to give notice until I've found a new place, and though my landlord is pretty chill I'm not sure if letting him know that I'm looking to move is a good idea. Anybody deal with a similar situation before?

if the landlord isn’t a complete piece of shit it shouldn’t be an issue
or just get a friend to lie for you

Moving sucks so much, I might get movers next time
I’m not sure how long I’m going to be at my current place, some kind of calculus between the pain of moving and the pain of staying in the same place

i didn't get the place I posted about above. nobody responded to my emails and I got a generic form denial and that was it. they are big into clapping back at their Google reviews so I think i dodged a bullet
saw a place yesterday i loved. owner leased, he's moving into a place with his gf and they showed me around. it's twice the size of my current place and gorgeous. dude was v chill and we hit it off talking about music and restaurants and he was really fascinated by my job lol. she was super nice and we exchanged smileys via text so I think it went well. i am not financially prepared for this esp as he wants someone in asap but i told him I'm comfortable moving along at his timeline and dealing with my current lease secondary to the new place. idk. I'm stressed out. i will be quite sad if I don't get it. finding an apartment here sucks

i was straight up like "i love this place and want to live here. what do I need to do to make that happen?" and offered to sign a longer lease or whatever I needed to do. we'll seeeeeee

the last time i moved we couldn't fit our couch out the door and destroyed a wall in the building's hallway in the attempt (dunno how we got it in!) so i ended up borrowing an electric saw and slicing the whole thing in half just so we could get it out of the unit and bring it to the dump
moving fucking blows
