Let's talk Aguachile Alley

Postby kid8 » Mon Dec 14, 2009 6:40 pm

finally threw on 400 blows. i thought it was gonna have more of a punch in the end but it was great. nothing was at all wrong with that kid, i don't understand why everything was falling apart around him.

Fish Tank

my favourite of all the cannes buzz.

beautifully slow burning dramatic shite and with some of the best performances i have seen foreverever. the little sister. fuckinghell. one of those performances that is awesome because the little slag is playing herself but total absolute gold.

my ladyfriend and i watched it four days ago and have been talking about it since. if you like WKW, french new wave, arty homo, hand held shit. this is one of the years best.

i am pretty sure that it was because i was exhausted and had just watched three other movies (the road, last train home & port of call) but this movie depressed me more than schindlers list.

Week End (1967)
The last half hour dragged a little, but for the most part, I really enjoyed this. Disturbing in places, but also quite hilarious in others. There were so many different ideas and peculiar scenes but it all came together really well.

Before Sunset (2004)
Really lovely, kind of makes me see the first film in a slightly different light. I really could enjoy just watching Jesse and Celine talk with one another for another dozen sequels probably. Oh, and Julie Delpy has a great singing voice.

Seven Pounds - Actually pretty good, cliche in some ways but well acted and interesting in the details if not terribly original in the general plot. Seemed like it was trying a bit hard to be oscar-worthy which is weird because it passed by with minimal buzz last year.

Bad Lieutenant - Exactly the bizarre and entertaining film I expected.

I watched both Hostel and Hostel Part II last night. I liked the first one better, but the second one was a lot tougher to watch.
