having watched the season now I'm pretty on board. the writing has been consistent (and more in line with the mean/weird streak of the earlier Comedy Central eps)

I have no problem with new actors for the bots but I wish they'd act closer to their their natural speaking voices rather than try to affect the voices of trace and kevin.

with crow especially it just sounds like they grabbed a guy off the street and asked him to give his best crow impression. If they've cast a guy with a good take on the character and solid comedy chops it's fine if he sounds completely different. the doctor who model was what joel hodgeson was going for anyway, right? keep the template, let new voices filter in as needed to put their own spin on the show.

they're doing the right thing with gypsy, for instance. jim mallon's take on gypsy was.... remarkably weird. like, how did this ever get on tv kind of weird. not just the voice, but the richard basehart obsession. it's one of the things that made the old series what it was but I really wouldn't expect them to try to duplicate that today and it's good that they didn't try.

DO you guys think this season will be put out on physical media? Sort of regret that part of it being a Netflix show

this past season was already released on blu ray in april. most of the popular netflix shows release on disc (Stranger Things, House of Cards, etc are usually fully stocked at WalMart/Target/Best Buy)

yeah, but a lot cheaper than how they price the originals... 4 eps of the old show on DVD will run you about 40-50 bucks.

Yeah that's a good point. The only DVDs I have are the 25th Anniversary boxset, Manos, and the box set with Space Mutiny & Overdrawn at the Memory Bank

The only thing that really annoys me about this show are the commercial break bumpers and especially Patton Oswalt saying "On moon 13, THE MOON!" every time

doesn't help that eBay doesn't let you do Boolean logic searches

yeah, tbh it's kind of ugly but still it will be cool to have a Crow figurine.

The Tom Servo one is just too ugly to want tho

I think if you put in -Funko it would take any Funko results on. But if the entry even mentions it like "Note: This is NOT funko!" it'd be excluded.

Maybe this is just a kneejerk reaction, but an Asylum movie seems over some sort of line.

Aren't these movies made to be laughed at to some degree? Like Sharknado and all that garbage?

Gonna save Mac and Me another time but I just finished Lords of the Deep, it's one of the better episodes of the new seasons.

that was my knee jerk feeling as well, but it actually worked pretty nicely. two levels of Asylum films: the intentional bad film, ie. Sharknado and the cheapo cash-in. Atlantic Rim isn't intentionally, winking bad, it's just cheap and lazy and poorly executed. some pretty solid riffing too, regardless.

One thing I really don't like about the new series is that all three voices have the same grating nerdy tone.
Joel and Mike had a lower blasé drawl, cynical sounding, I loved that.
I started watching the Mac and Me episode last night and while it's pretty funny I basically couldn't differentiate the voice cast from the kids in the movie.

yeah I still get the new guys' voices mixed up and it can really take me out of the show.
Bill/Mike/Kevin each had a distinct vocal range and tone that was immediately obvious.
I definitely co-sign the Mac and Me praise, tho
