Hoffman’s vibe took some getting used to but once he started in on his “paddington is an animated film” bit I was laughin a lot

I am so sure I've made a comment like this about say I dunno like Lionel Barrymore that made the person I said it to feel 7,000 years old, the age I feel right now.

Jordan Hoffman's VCR story could just as well've been about my own dad, down to the slowest VHS tape recording speed.

Griffin had another cameo on Podcast the Ride and I’m incredibly embarrassed I didn’t recognize his voice.

When I was a kid I used to serially record every episode of TNG. When a commercial came on I would dash to the VCR and pause the recording and hover over the record button for when the break was over. If a tape ran out in the middle of an episode I would try to put a new tape in as fast as I could and keep going

Yeah, I didn't want to be first, but it's wild to see Jason Robards that-guy'ed.

At the very least, he's Ben Bradlee.

Swing Shift is just ok

It might have been a mistake to watch the directors cut without having seen the original version

I was searching for podcasts that talked about Burning and stumbled upon a film podcast called “movies imo”

It’s basically blank check but with three self-described “film fags”...they’re very loud and obnoxious and gay, i find them really funny but obviously yer mileage may vary. Also i think all three are film students and they seem to have a bit more knowledge and depth of film criticism and technique than griffin and david

My introduction to the podcast was Cameron Crowe, and after I was finished with that I had gone back and listened to a "best of" phantom menace and didn't enjoy the best of format. But after a long stretch of Blank Check movies i'd never seen (I rarely listen to them talk about movies I haven't seen) I decided to start from the begining and listen to the whole Phantom arc and I'm absolutely loving it. I just got to the origin of hello fennel, and while it was a little underwhelming origin story, that's kind of perfect for how long I've wondered what the source of the joke was. I have fennel in my garden so think of the tagline nearly every time I go to my back yard.

anyway, phantom pod rules

I first found out about this podcast from people who kept bringing up phantom pod in Star Wars thread. I remember it being really hard to find in iTunes for some reason.

how did they announce it, did they just call it a hiatus and that they’d be back, or did it seem permanent?

it was pretty definitive, they announced it a few episodes before and said "we're ending the podcast" and timed it for the 100th ep (which was OUATIH). there were a couple asides in those final episodes that suggested they'd be open to getting together for a one-off best-of-the-year type ep or something, but it was definitely a clear ending as they also said they'd all gotten what they'd want to out of the podcast and had reached a point where the "homework" was too much work/time for them to manage.

I too am going back to the OG days. Haven't listened to the prequel eps since they first dropped, and the piano intro really felt good to hear again.
