hoping for a ben crossover ep into last podcast on the left since they went to spotify but prob wont happen

ben kissel from last podcast on the left spoke about throwing away towels when they were dirty this week, and getting dressed while wet. like no talk about having washed towels around, like washing towels was an abnormal thing. no pushback from henry either. so it would be nice if one wet boy gets to talk with a fan of wet things about the fan of wet thing's buried jeans project. anyway

Blank Check does not exist without Ben. It literally would not have existed in the first place without him, and there is no possible future for the show without him deeply and directly involved. That has always been non-negotiable throughout every step of these last five years trying to figure out our path in this weird ever changing podcast industry.

This is all to say that if our language about Ben's current involvement/role in the show is weird or vague it's because we're a little limited in the language we can use. We're still figuring all of this out, but we tried to keep the completely Ben-less episodes to an absolute minimum while navigating this transition. Most of the eps without him have already been released. He's on every episode of the next miniseries that we've recorded so far. That should stay the norm.

the nerd in me really wants them to unpack “limited in the language we can use” contractual stipulations, i guess because theyre competing companies or something?

I remember seeing both the Charade remake and the Manchurian Candidate remake in theaters, having been a fan of Charade from the criterion version and eh... never seeing original The Manchurian Candidate and... not liking either remake. Ill have to give TMC another watch now that ive seen the original.

I just rewatched The Truth About Charlie a few months ago and it was weird and sure, bad, but an enjoyable watch. it was clear Wahlberg was incredibly miscast to a comedic degree. Im pretty sure i had both the criterion of Charade and that remake on dvd that included a copy of Charade.

I havent gotten to the pod on it yet but im looking forward to it.

Truth About Charlie was just kinda goofy with some interesting flourishes and yeah it's one of Wahlberg's worst performances

Have they ever confirmed *winky winky* that they’re covering Peter Jackson?

Because the lack of LOTR in the bracket seems to indicate they’re holding those back for the main feed.

The main feed bracket is straight-up evil genius.

(And nothing prevents them from doing a miniseries on someone who doesn’t win. So I don’t automatically assume the presence of May and Jackson means those two aren’t already in the hopper. Their inclusion could be a bit of a calculated misdirect. Almost a “TESLA” level distraction...)
