Could someone link me to the YouTube account of creepy short driving cam films? One has the the GPS driving them into darkness.

Edit: found it

Oct 6 - HELP ME...I'M POSSESSED aka THE POSSESSED (1976)

Image

A woman is drawn into the demented halls of a sanitarium run by a mad doctor.

Preposterous 75 minute romp through a m̶i̶n̶i̶ ̶g̶o̶l̶f̶ ̶c̶o̶u̶r̶s̶e̶ castle asylum run by the sadistic Dr. Blackwood. And you know it's a real sanitarium because they have a Charles Manson lookalike (named Charlie) locked up in the basement. He gets to watch the doctor stuff women into snake coffins and decapitate what I believe was a white man in Mexicanface. There are also many murders done by what appears to be red silly string floating in a void. It runs out of steam 2/3 of the way through (again), is extra horrible toward women, and has no plot...but it's the kind of genuine Grade-Z nutso garbage I love. B+

Trucks come to life and begin terrorizing a small rest stop in the Texas desert.

Hoppin on the recent King convoy with this USA Channel entry that sadly didn't make Poptone's list. It's basically a slightly more competent made for TV Maximum Overdrive, but just solely with killer trucks. There's still some pretty whacked out stuff in this including one of the silliest kills I've seen on film a truck with a cleanup crew enters into crazed truck territory, the cleanup truck becomes evil, manages to turn on a air pump in the back, pumps up an empty hazmat suit, and then has the puffed up hazmat suit pick up an axe and hack apart the cleanup crew. truly incredible stuffToggle Spoiler. Probably liked this a little more than Maximum Overdrive though that's not a high bar to clear. C-

Upon reflection Maximum Overdrive probably is slightly better than Trucks, I'm just cutting Trucks a lot of slack because it's a TV movie with much smaller budget and no reputation (which I know I shouldn't do). At the end of the day they both have the same highs (a fun premise, ridiculous kills) and lows (movie is mostly people puttering around in a diner, shots of trucks just drifting around gets tired after awhile). Overdrive wins out because of the AC/DC soundtrack and the ending which I really wish was on youtube.

The survivors are pursued to the docks by the Green Goblin truck - which manages to kill one more trucker after he steals a large diamond ring from a female corpse in a car (Marla Maples) - before Robinson destroys the truck once and for all with a direct hit from an M72 LAW rocket shot. The survivors then sail off to safety; a title card epilogue explains that two days after the machines' rampage, a UFO was destroyed by a Soviet "weather satellite" conveniently equipped with class IV nuclear missiles and a laser cannon.

I know the board already rides hard for Messiah of Evil, but I watched it for the first time this weekend and holy moly what a gorgeous and interesting film. Aside from the ending which felt a little cheap/incomplete, this is an immediate all-timer.

Hooptober

#7 Alucarda (Moctezuma, 1977)

Didn't find this as immediately affecting as I would have expected after reading about it for years, but it has lingered with me a bit since watching it last night. It escalates pretty quickly and runs through to batshit crazy right up to the end.

i like alucarda a lot. it has this atmosphere of evil that i appreciate. it may be the most satanic movie i've seen.

Moctezuma made another interesting movie called Dr. Tarr's Torture Dungeon which is def worth watching. He was an acolyte of Jodorowski, possibly even Jodo's cinematographer or something maybe? not gonna google it. but you can really see the Jodo influence on the Dr. Tarr movie in a big way. kind of has to be seen if you've an interest in acid psych horror.

it's on youtube, knew it would be

^ thanks for that. There's an interview with Del Toro on the DVD in the bonus features that speaks to some of that history. I'll definitely check out more of his work.

hey horror people, I feel like i've been in a slump for a long time. I'm desperately looking for something really disturbing that I haven't seen...I don't want new school jump scare, torture porn, or zombie movies with a message, and as much I love schlocky stuff my ceiling for it has been reached lately...I watched pumpkinhead while slackjawed last night, didn't move the needle for me..help me...

hadn't seen creepshow 2 before and hoo boy it's not great. but it did provide some unintentional laughter. also the long haired kid in the first segment was definitely in redface :(

have you watched either of Oz Perkins' films? I'd say Blackcoat's Daughter is the more *frightening* of the two, but I Am the Pretty Thing... is gorgeous slow-burn atmospheric stuff.
