I am! It’s a pretty great dkc clone, especially loving it since i played tropical freeze back in the Wii U days so I’ve been jonesing for a new one. I like the idea of the expansive overworld but it sorta hinders the momentum id like to have jumping from level to level

I just preordered Luigi’s Mansion 3. I am so ready for some cute creepy crawlies and ghosties!

Dark Moon was a great game and it came out quite a while ago so I feel like it’s a safe bet this one won’t disappoint.

Can't wait for Luigi's mansion 3. It looks incredibly fun. Hope I can beat links awakening by then, as a first timer it is by no means a short game.

If you're in Europe and want Ys VIII on the Switch there's a sale on from NISA Europe for the hardcopy:
https://store.nisaeurope.com/collection ... ndo-switch

It goes for nearly 50 on amazon so £25 is pretty good

Someone on a podcast I listen to mentioned that he thought a Zelda 1 remake would be pretty cool and a good reintroduction and it got me wondering why they didn't do Zelda 1 for the remake instead of Link's Awakening. Not taking away from LA being a great game but Zelda 1 is right there, has never been remade and would be a great selling point to be like "Breath of the Wild 1 was in some ways going back to the first game, BOTW2 is on it's way, now go back to the BEGINNING" or something.

Zelda 1 is harder/more obtuse than LA imho. I don't remember any phone or equivalent in Zelda 1?

Yeah but there's a meatier game to update and change imo. You could make multiple quests for instance, you can add phones (?) or bottles or whatever

More wondering if they thought about it and if so why they decided not to in the end, than anything

as much as i love LoZ, if nintendo did a remake and priced it at $60, there might be a problem (i'd pay it tho)

With that said, i wouldn't mind if they reused the assets from LA.

Yeah, but I also think that Link's Awakening was already way more playable in the modern age than Zelda 1, which is what I'm arguing: Take Zelda 1 and make it a modern playable thing

Zelda 1 is one of the most important games of all time and the only way to play it is exactly as you would in the 80s

i'm surprised by how well i was able to make it through the LA remake without any walkthrough help--- i was expecting a bit of dated cryptic stuff, but it was perfectly balanced out

I'm not sure how you make a redo of Zelda 1 that's not just making it like the SNES-style top downs without wholly reworking the game. like they don't remake Mario 1, they just make new Mario side scrollers. Zelda is the same.

Zelda 1 is a pretty simple game at basically all levels and I guess they could do like a FF7 Remake-level overhaul but, again, then it's basically just a new game. the pieces of the gameplay are thin enough that if you change them even just a bit, they're not redone, they're a new thing.

They technically did remake LoZ 1 for the SNES. It was for the Satellavision add-on for the SNES.

This is just what they did for LA and LA is just as simple ir not moreso

You guys should play Link Between Worlds, it's seriously one of the best Zelda games

+1

One of the only games in the past 10 years that I just replay all the time as if it were a classic SNES game.

I somehow stumbled ass backwards into the "hidden" route in Three houses on my first playthrough

It's weird; I kind of don't like this game but I also find it weirdly addicting. The story is a mess. Most of the characters are either annoying or boring. There's a ton of stuff to do but that ends up just irking me because I can't do it all.

Also "normal" is ridiculously easy. I became overleveled without grinding at all, just playing the story missions and quests. If quests are going to break the game then don't put them in! Or stop giving me a shit ton of experience for no reason. there's no reason for me to even be tactical anymore because no one can even damage my dudes

And yet I keep coming back to for meaningless stat raises and the battles. It's just when I look at this game in comparison with path or radiance or awakening it's no question that those are better games despite being ancient

i also did the hidden route at first accidentally. i thought the same about the characters at first but the support conversations add a lot of background and depth to them.
