found myself on a cnn article about the jean case and (warning, graphical)

The 26-year-old accountant was at home in his shorts, watching TV and eating ice cream when Guyger walked through the front door and fired twice, Hermus said. One bullet missed, but the second hit Jean in the chest and traveled downward through his heart, lung, stomach and intestine before resting between his stomach and back, he said.

jesus fucking christ. people who work in the er and get to deal with gun trauma, i can't even imagine

even if i was highly intoxicated, and even if the lights were dim, it would take me 2 seconds to realize i wasn't in my own apartment. not just how things look different but apartments smell different, everything. i once almost did this, got off the elevator on the wrong floor but as soon as i touched the door handle it felt different, it was just slightly less worn or something and i immediately realized something was wrong.

I still suspect she intentionally murdered him rather than accidentally shot him in a case of mistaken apartment syndrome

I know cops are dumb but nah, that story is hard to buy

I wonder if the grand jury had acess to more dirt unknown to us that led to the murder indictment vs the original manslaughter charge

I just hope it doesn't backfire/the jurors aren't real dumb and eat up the inappropriate charge defense. jury trials are so absurd. I'm prepared to be mad too

I refuse to believe someone who can dress and feed themselves can make a mistake like that. What actually happened I don't know, but wonder if she went to confront him over something else (they said the apartment reeked of pot I can see a cop in a bad mood barging in over that...off duty cops have shot people after similar confrontations quite a few times). or any number of reasons. I think she knew that was not her apartment. Why she was there I hope we find out later.

love they were unable to find her deleted texts to her fuckbuddy/work partner. also the interoffice banging among cops is so gross to me. truly a creeps dream career.

the second shot gets me too. you can comprehend that your first shot missed but not that you are in another apartment? fuck that. cold blooded murder.

No charges for the LA cop who gunned down an unarmed disabled man and his parents in a Costco in June :x

Couldn't believe the dipshit DA on the news saying he absolutely denies the cop got special treatment because they "simply handled the incident as an officer-involved shooting" as if the rules wouldn't be completely different had a regular person done the exact same thing

distracting myself on hipinion cause there's no way i can get work done

still in lockdown, seems like someone anonymously air dropped a bunch of cells in the school saying there was a shooter

she is still in the same classroom with the same kids for 4 hours while they're doing a really slow controlled dismissal and she apparently really has to pee but can't leave. feel so bad for her and her kids, the last thing her students need is more trauma.

I havent' checked this thread in a while but is the board still anti-gun or are we for arming the proletariat now
at the same time, when i first heard this song in the 4th grade, i couldn't stop thinking of death and the release of the human soul from the body....flying through the air and darkness!!!...

When my friend's school was on lockdown because there was a car jacking nearby and there was something of a police standoff nearby, she was stuck in the library and kids had to pee in trashcans.

The only one of these I ever experienced for real was when I was a kid and a guy robbed the bank down the street and hid on your playground for a while.

Came here to post this but knew in my heard and knew it already was.

Man, amazed the Dallas PD didn't manage to pull this off as hard as they were working it. I wonder what additional evidence the jury was privileged to. I'm glad the judge didn't allow a lot of the prejudicial/unscientific testimony to go before the jury. Not sure why he let them testify anyway but whatever.

The judge instructing the jury that they could consider the castle doctrine law seemed like a real stretch. Glad it did not work

Shooting at a synagogue in Germany on Yom Kippur. Shooter(s) haven't been caught yet.

update: one person has been apprehended, unsure if it's the man in the video below.

Video is more strange than horrifying, but spoiler warning'd it anyway.
